►11/18/2021 - NextGen Test at Charlotte

MBM Motorsports debuted their first NASCAR Cup Series NextGen car at the 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway in preparation for the 2022 season. NASCAR held a two-day test at the track, November 17-18, permitting one entry for 1-2 car organizations and two entries for 3-4 car organizations.

Timmy Hill drove the #66 Ford Mustang in both days of testing. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native shook the car down in the afternoon of Day 1, as the team had to scramble to get the car completed. After resolving a few setup issues on the opening day, MBM significantly improved the #66 car for Day 2. Hill ran a lap of 32.593 seconds, more than 1.3 seconds quicker than his best lap from the previous day.

►11/10/2021 - Cup Phoenix Results

MBM Motorsports fielded two cars in the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway, though neither entry was able to reach the checkered flag on track.

David Starr had a decent event put together until a late mechanical failure took him out of the race. The Houston, Texas native placed the #13 Ripper Magoos / Soda Jerk Shot / Club Scottsdale Toyota Camry 34th fastest of the 39 entries in the 50-minute practice held on Friday, running 29 laps in the session. From a practice time of 28.413 seconds, Starr improved in qualifying to a best lap of 27.874 seconds, a pick-up of more than half a second. The run left him 36th in the starting lineup for Sunday, matching the starting position from his one prior Cup start at this track in 2017.

The 54-year-old picked up decent Stage 1 and 2 finishes of 32nd and 30th, respectively. Late in Stage 3, Starr was running in 29th, and beating three of the Rick Ware Racing cars, when disaster struck. One of his brake rotors exploded, the same fate that befell Starr and the #13 car at Nashville earlier this season. Pieces of rotor were scattered on track and forced NASCAR to display the yellow flag. Starr retired from the event with 273 laps complete, finishing 33rd, the highest placed car to not be running at the finish. The DNF ended Starr's streak of consecutive Cup races running at the finish at four, a new career high.

Timmy Hill had an even more challenging event. He practiced the #66 Coble Enterprises / Boathouse Bar & Grill Toyota Camry for 10 laps, with a best time of 29.208 seconds. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native was supposed to be the third driver to set a lap time in qualifying, but as he took to the racetrack, he discovered that he had no braking power. Hill rolled the car slowly back to pit road and did not record a time, leaving him in the 39th starting spot.

The 28-year-old's 13th Cup start of the season and 10th premier series start at Phoenix was short-lived. Hill described his car as plowing tight all the way to the center of the corner and then loose on throttle. Despite multiple chassis adjustments and making a trip to the garage area for more extensive setup changes, the #66 remained ill-handling on its return to the track. The experienced driver, now with 422 NASCAR national touring series starts, decided the car needed to be retired. Hill finished 38th with 57 laps complete.

►11/10/2021 - Xfinity Phoenix Results

Practice and qualifying returned for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway, the 1-mile oval in Avondale, Arizona. MBM Motorsports attempted to get three cars qualified into the race, but only succeed with one.

42 entries were in the Xfinity garage at Phoenix to compete for 36 available positions in the field, and all three MBM cars entered qualifying knowing they needed to earn a spot in the Top 31 on time to secure a position in the race. David Starr piloted the #66 Whataburger Toyota Supra, but he was only 38th best in the 50-minute practice session held on Friday. His best lap time was 28.781 seconds, set on his third of 11 circuits. The Houston, Texas native drew 21st in the qualifying order, but when his turn to hit the racetrack arrived, the #66 car would not start. Frantically, the team hurried to diagnose the issue as the car was placed on the 5-minute clock. If five minutes had elapsed from the time Starr's position in the qualifying line was called without the #66 being re-presented for a qualifying attempt, the team would not have been allowed on track. Fortunately, the team discovered the ignition switch had been turned to the backup box, but there was no backup ignition installed in the car. With that corrected, the engine turned over and Starr hit the track.

Follow David Starr on Twitter @starr_racing.

The 54-year-old was on a mission on his qualifying run, improving more than three-quarters of a second from practice and locking himself into the starting lineup on his qualifying speed. The lap held up for 27th on the grid, less than four hundredths of a second safe to the Top 31 but in the show. Because of the work in the qualifying line to get the car started, the #66 was sent to the rear of the field to start the race for unapproved adjustments.

The biggest hurdle for the Whataburger machine in the race related to tire camber. The team took a risk by adding more camber than normal to help the car rotate in the corners on the qualifying lap, and Starr successfully made the race with that gamble, but it also meant the #66 wore its tires more quickly in race conditions. The car remained tight, and Starr asked for his Supra to cut better on corner entry and in the center. Using a free pass at the seventh caution flag and a wavearound at the eighth, Starr got back on the lead lap at the end of the race and took advantage of more late-race restarts to advance up the running order. He finished 21st, the best result for the #66 since Jason White placed 15th at the Daytona oval in August, ten races ago. Starr ended the year 31st in driver points, and the #66 ended up as the highest MBM-affiliated car in owner points at P35.

Both of the other MBM entries were hampered by unfortunate qualifying draws. Timmy Hill had the fastest practice lap of the three MBM teammates. His 28.598 second lap put the #61 Coble Enterprises / CrashClaimsR.US Toyota Supra 34th best on the practice sheet, just 0.116 seconds back of the 31st fastest team. However, the #61 team was assigned to be the first car on track for qualifying. The Xfinity Series qualifying session was the first on-track activity following the ARCA Menards Series West race, whose cars run on General Tire rubber. That scenario made for difficult track conditions for the early qualifiers.

Like and Follow MBM Motorsports on Facebook @MBMMotorsports.

Hill ran his first qualifying lap in 28.395 seconds, picking up two tenths from practice, but his effort was not enough. The #61 car ended up 40th on the qualifying leaderboard and would have needed 45 more owner points over the course of the season to get a provisional, based on the other teams who missed the Top 31 on speed. It was the fourth DNQ for the #61 entry in 2021.

Stephen Leicht was the third fastest MBM driver in practice, placing 39th at 28.835 seconds in the #13 Jani-King / ShareLife Vacations Toyota Supra. The Asheville, North Carolina native had the additional misfortune of drawing the second position in the qualifying order. Leicht had a sketchy moment on his qualifying lap into Turn 1, but he still managed to pick up more than two-thirds of a second from practice, jumping all the way to 28.162 seconds. Despite the admirable effort, the #13 would have needed another five positions, or 0.12 seconds, to break into the Top 31.

►11/03/2021 - Cup Martinsville Results

The MBM Motorsports Cup team had one of its most competitive runs of the season going at Martinsville Speedway in the Xfinity 500, but a mechanical failure ended their effort in the middle of Stage 2.

Timmy Hill appeared to have the #66 American Dream Leasing and Financing / DreamWorks Motorsports Toyota Camry in prime position for a great finish. After starting the race from 38th and last due to the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric, Hill and MBM decided to take the wavearound back to the lead lap at the lap 60 competition caution. This worked out brilliantly, as a quick yellow followed for a spin involving #6 Ryan Newman, allowing the #66 team to hit pit road for service and get back on the same pit stop sequence as the field. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native ran inside the Top 25 for the remainder of Stage 1 and picked up a 24th place finish at the green-and-white checkered flag.

Despite gaining at least a lap over all of the team's immediate rivals, MBM was unable to capitalize on the track position. Around lap 186, Hill came over the team radio to say he thought they were blowing up. The engine dropped a cylinder and spotter Richard Coleman observed an audible engine pitch change. Hill limped the car around for several more laps before smoke began emerging from the tailpipes, particularly at low speed. With 206 laps complete, Hill had to take his car to the garage area and retire. The #66 finished an unrepresentative 37th place, picking up its first back-to-back DNFs of the season.

►11/03/2021 - Xfinity Martinsville Results

The MBM Motorsports Xfinity team scored its first double lead lap finish on a non-drafting oval since Darlington on May 8 in the Dead On Tools 250 at Martinsville Speedway.

Stephen Leicht returned to the #61 Jani-King Toyota Supra, the same car he piloted at Richmond, and came from 37th on the starting grid. The Asheville, North Carolina native fought a tight racecar that he described as plowing in the center, and therefore had trouble rolling speed after landing on corner entry. Leicht passed several competitors in Stage 2 and drove up to P23 by the second green-and-white checkered flag of the race, missing the free pass award by a single position. The #61 team opted to pit for tires and fight for the next free pass, rather than take the wavearound and risk a long green flag run. The track continued to build tighter and tighter as the race continued, and Leicht found himself trapped a lap down for nearly 100 circuits of the 0.526-mile oval. Finally, at the 11th caution flag of the race, Leicht beat #5 Matt Mills for the lucky dog and regained his spot on the lead lap.

The 34-year-old put his experience to good use in the final laps, advancing up to P21 by the finish. He took the checkered flag side-by-side with #20 Harrison Burton, coming up just 30 thousandths of a second short of a Top 20 result. It was the first Xfinity race for Leicht at Martinsville, but his best-finish of the 2021 season in five starts and his best result overall since he was P21 at the Daytona Road Course in 2020, 13 starts ago. This was also his best oval finish since joining MBM, having last scored a P21 on an oval at Phoenix in 2019 in his penultimate race for JD Motorsports.

David Starr, a 2006 NASCAR Truck Series winner at this track, started the #66 Bret Baier's "To Rescue the Republic" Toyota Supra from the 36th position. The #66 team ran 30th at the end of Stage 2 and opted to take the wavearound back to the lead lap, which worked well since another yellow flag waved early in Stage 3. The Houston, Texas native reported a lack of engine power off the corners in Stage 3, but he managed to finish P24, beating #23 Natalie Decker for that position by 15 thousandths of a second. Starr has now raced twice in the Xfinity Series at Martinsville, both this year for MBM Motorsports, and scored Top 25s in both. The MBM #66 team picked up its first Top 25 finish since Jason White took the checkered flag in 15th at the Daytona oval in August, nine races ago.

These results mark the sixth double lead lap finish for the MBM Xfinity program this year, a new team single season-best, beating the previous mark of five double lead laps set in 2020.

The #13 MBM Motorsports Toyota Supra entered the event to maintain its full-time status but did not make the starting field, as set by the rulebook. The #13 car remains 41st in the owner point standings.

►11/03/2021 - Cup Kansas Results

MBM Motorsports started two cars in a full-points NASCAR Cup Series race for the seventh time in team history, reaching the checkered flag of the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway with one of them.

Having achieved his career-best premier series finish one week before at Texas, David Starr swapped over to the #13 ConnectUS / Kyocera Ford Mustang entry for Kansas. In his sixth Cup start of 2021, the Houston, Texas native began his race from 38th. The MBM team adjusted on the handling of the machine throughout the race, and Starr managed to beat #00 Quin Houff, the other driver on his lap, to the finish for P34, with 255 of 267 circuits completed. The #13 entry has finished all three of its Cup starts this season in the Top 35.

Chad Finchum had a difficult day in the #66 Smithbilt Homes Toyota Supra. In his sixth Cup start and second at Kansas, he started 37th but fought a car that was plowing tight on corner entry, center, and exit. This severely hampered the on-throttle time for the Knoxville, Tennessee native, forcing NASCAR to post the #66 for not meeting minimum speed in Stage 1. With 47 laps complete, Finchum was classified 40th in the final rundown.

►11/03/2021 - Xfinity Kansas Results

Both MBM Motorsports starters in the Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway took the checkered flag on track, though one had to overcome a trip behind the wall.

Loris Hezemans made his fifth NASCAR Xfinity Series start and third on an oval, driving the #61 AutoParts4Less.com Toyota Supra. After rolling off 36th on the grid, the Dutch driver worked up to speed early in the event and collected a free pass award back to the lead lap at the end of Stage 1. The Eindhoven, Netherlands native kept the car clean and reached the finish in 32nd, completing 192 of 200 laps.

David Starr raced the #66 Bret Baier's "To Rescue the Republic: Ulysses S. Grant, the Fragile Union, and the Crisis of 1876" Ford Mustang from 33rd on the grid but his effort was quickly got derailed. A carburetor issue resulted in the engine stumbling in the corners. For a few laps, the motor ran well enough on the straightaway to remain on track, but before long the Houston, Texas native had to bring the car in so the MBM crew could make repairs. Starr returned to the event and finished 152 laps, placing 36th in the race results.

►10/18/2021 - Cup Texas Results

MBM Motorsports entered two cars in the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, and both entries were able to take full advantage of the heavy attrition to score the first double Top 30 in the NASCAR Cup Series in team history.

David Starr made his 15th career premier series start overall and fourth at Texas. Rolling from 38th in the 39-car field, the Houston, Texas native liked the handling characteristics of his #66 ConnectUS / Kyocera Ford Mustang in the early laps, which was reflected in his lap times as the faster of the two MBM entries. Starr took the wavearound back to the lead lap at the competition caution, and on the ensuing restart, a huge multi-car crash erupted on the backstraightaway. Eight cars were knocked out of the race as a direct result of the incident, but Starr made it through the accident scene cleanly.

Follow David Starr on Twitter @starr_racing.

Timmy Hill did, too. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native slid over to the second MBM entry for Texas, starting the #13 T-Top Manufacturing / CrashClaimsR.US Toyota Camry from 39th position on the grid. Like his teammate, Hill took the wavearound at the competition caution to return to the lead lap and dodged the subsequent backstretch melee. However, the #13 car was not enjoying the same handling platform as the team car. Hill reported that his car seemed to be dragging the racetrack, and the MBM crew made wedge, left front packer, and grille tape adjustments to compensate.

Like and Follow MBM Motorsports on Facebook @MBMMotorsports.

Both cars achieved Stage finishes inside the Top 30. #66 Starr recorded P26 and P27 finishes in Stages 1 and 2, and #13 Hill ran P29 and P28 at the two green-and-white checkered flags, respectively. Some additional late-race attrition provided a big opportunity that Starr in particular was able to capitalize on. The 54-year-old, who celebrated his birthday earlier in the week (October 11th), reached the checkered flag in 23rd, just one lap back of the Live Fast Motorsports #78 and ahead of all of the Rick Ware Racing entries. That result is a Cup career-best for Starr (previous-best: P27, twice) and the best-ever finish for MBM Motorsports in Cup on a 1.5-mile intermediate-style track (previous-best: 30th, 2020, also at Texas). It is the sixth Top 25 MBM has achieved in the premier series, the third Top 25 on a non-superspeedway (previous: Indianapolis 2017, Bristol 2020), and the best Cup result MBM has had in the 2021 season to date.

Timmy Hill backed up that finish with P27 at the checkered flag, also topping the prior MBM-best 1.5-mile oval result. The 28-year-old easily reset the best-finish by a second MBM entry in a full-points Cup race, besting the 34th place finish of Starr at Nashville earlier in the year. This also means MBM achieved its first-ever double Top 30 in Cup. For Hill, this was his ninth points-race start at Texas Motor Speedway in Cup, and his best-finish in the first seven was 35th. In his last two starts, he has consecutive Top 30s at this track, including a new personal-best in this most recent start with P27.

David Starr, racing at his home track, began his race from 36th, based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. The Houston, Texas native drove the #66 Whataburger Toyota Camry towards the Top 30 in the opening stint of the race, despite experiencing radio issues with his MBM crew. Starr pitted at the competition caution, where the team was able to restore communications for its driver. The Whataburger machine was a little tight early but did advance through the field. Starr collected Stage 1 and 2 finishes of 29th and 24th, respectively.

Trouble arose around lap 142, very near the time #74 C.J. McLaughlin spun on the frontstretch to bring out the ninth caution flag of the race. Starr radioed in that he seemed to have run out of fuel. He came to pit road immediately, but while the car would not refire, Starr lost several laps to the drivers he had been racing inside the Top 25. The engine finally turned over, and the #66 was able to return to the race. However, just a few circuits later, around lap 158, the engine in the car expired. Starr coasted onto pit road, where the MBM crew noted that they could smell the engine oil, which indicated a significant failure. The day ended for car #66 with 152 laps completed. Starr finished 34th in his 24th Xfinity race at Texas.

For the second consecutive weekend, Hattori Racing Enterprises fielded the #61 Toyota Tsusho Toyota Supra for Austin Hill. The Winston, Georgia native started 21st and finished 20th, collecting his eighth Xfinity Top 20 from 15 starts. He was the highest placed driver off the lead lap.

The #13 MBM Motorsports Toyota Supra entered the event to maintain its full-time status but did not make the starting field, as set by the rulebook. The #13 car remains 41st in the owner point standings.

►10/11/2021 - Cup Charlotte Roval Results

Timmy Hill made his first NASCAR Cup Series start since the Indianapolis Road Course, eight races ago, on Sunday in the Bank of America Roval 400 at the Charlotte Roval. MBM Motorsports had a memorable Stage 1 at this circuit one year ago, when a switch to slick tires under caution on a still damp track reaped huge rewards for the team. On that day, Hill scored a Top 5 finish in the opening stage, the best Stage finish for any MBM premier series entry to date.

Based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric, the #66 Coble Enterprises / CrashClaimsR.US Toyota Supra started from 39th in the 39-car field. This entry carried the same base livery as its two road course attempts earlier in 2021 at Daytona and Indy. Hill drove a controlled race, while the team discussed ways to improve the car's speed and drivability. At pit stops, the MBM crew added front grille tape and made adjustments to the rear of the car in an effort to give it a more balanced profile. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native drove it to 32nd place by the checkered flag, the highest-placed driver not on the lead lap.

The Cup #66 has been running at the finish in five of its last six races. In the three road course races they have competed in this year, Hill and his MBM #66 team have completed 272 of 274 possible racing laps.

►10/11/2021 - Xfinity Charlotte Roval Results

MBM Motorsports had one car in the starting lineup of the Drive for the Cure 250 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval and did not reach the checkered flag on track. It was still a memorable day for its driver, though.

On raceday morning, Loris Hezemans took part in the announcement of a new NASCAR Cup Series team that will start competing part-time next season, coinciding with the debut of the groundbreaking NASCAR NextGen. Team Hezeberg was revealed in a Saturday morning press conference, co-owned by Toine Hezemans (Loris' father) and Ernst Berg (Dutch entrepreneur) with technical support from Reaume Brothers Racing. Loris Hezemans and Jacques Villeneuve will be testing the #27 car on the Charlotte Roval early next week, with both drivers under consideration for race drives in 2022.

Like and Follow MBM Motorsports on Facebook @MBMMotorsports.

Hezemans has experienced considerable success in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, scoring 11 race victories to date, including four consecutive in 2019 and four already in 2021. Hezemans has competed in the series since 2018 and has finished in the Top 4 of the championship each time. He is the 2019 Euro Series Champion and leads the 2021 driver standings entering this weekend; however, in order to compete for MBM at Charlotte, Hezemans had to skip Rounds 9 and 10 of the Euro Series, which was racing at Circuit Zolder this weekend.

With the Cup team announced, Hezemans prepared to drive in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race that afternoon. The #66 Hezeberg Systems Toyota Supra would start from 34th based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. This event was the fifth Xfinity attempt for the Dutch driver, his fourth race start, and his third road course in the series so far, but his first non-oval with no on-track time prior to the drop of the race green flag.

Like and Follow Johnny Jackson on Facebook.

The Eindhoven, Netherlands native drove a respectable race on the 2.28-mile road course, including a strong 23rd place Stage 1 finish. Unfortunately, he had to come to pit road under green in Stage 3 when his throttle was sticking wide open. Hezemans was able to continue for a few more laps, but the problem returned. With his throttle pedal bending and nearly getting stuck up under the firewall, the team had to retire the car on safety grounds just shy of the checkered flag. The 24-year-old completed 59 of 68 possible laps on the day and finished 35th. This race was his first-career Xfinity DNF (Did Not Finish).

Control of the #61 entry returned to Hattori Racing Enterprises for this event. Austin Hill piloted the #61 AISIN Toyota Supra from 40th on the starting grid and reached P18 by the checkered flag. The 22 position gain from his starting spot was the second-best total of any driver in the field, trailing only #90 Preston Pardus in that metric.

The #13 MBM Motorsports Toyota Supra entered the event to maintain its full-time status but did not make the starting field, as set by the rulebook. The #13 car remains 41st in the owner point standings.

►10/06/2021 - Cup Talladega Results

The YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, originally scheduled for Sunday, October 3rd, was postponed due to rain. The NASCAR Cup Series cars made it on track for pace laps on the original date, but precipitation returned to the speedway before the field took the green flag. The race got underway Monday afternoon, but more rain showers meant that only 117 of the scheduled 188 laps were run before NASCAR displayed the checkered flag, under another red flag for rain at the time.

For the second consecutive week, a frequent NASCAR pilot for Rick Ware Racing slid over to compete for MBM Motorsports in the premier series. James Davison, from Melbourne, Victoria in Australia, made sporadic road course starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series from 2016-2018, including scoring a 4th place finish at Mid-Ohio in 2017, but has become a regular, part-time premier series driver since he made his Cup debut at Pocono in 2020. The 35-year-old is a six-time Indianapolis 500 starter, with a best-finish in the race of 12th in 2019. He is also a two-time Indy Lights Series race winner, achieving both victories at Mid-Ohio. Davison has scored three Top 25s in his Cup career to date, all coming in the 2021 season.

For Talladega, the #66 Rich Mar Florist Ford Mustang livery contains Hawaiian hibiscus flowers on the hood, quarterpanels, and decklid, paying tribute to the upcoming 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor this December.

Davison started his 35th Cup race and 40th in NASCAR from 39th in the 40-car field, as set by the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. This race also marked his 20th Cup start of the 2021 season. Davison lost the lead draft in the opening green flag run of the race and fell one lap down to the leaders. Beginning with the competition caution that brought out the first yellow flag of the race, Davison was able to remain in the lead draft on every restart and ensuing green flag run, racing #34 Michael McDowell, #14 Chase Briscoe, and #42 Ross Chastain, among others, for the free pass position for the entire rest of the race. On pit stops, the MBM team worked to free the car up, as the driver said it was pushing on corner exit.

Follow Rich Mar Florist on Twitter @RichMarFlorist.

Despite a valiant effort, the #66 team was not able to recover that lap lost in the opening stint. Davison finished 34th, completing 116 circuits in the rain-shortened event. The MBM #66 Cup car has now been running at the finish in four of its last five races.

►10/06/2021 - Xfinity Talladega Results

Both MBM Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series cars that started the Sparks 300 at Talladega Superspeedway were unable to reach the checkered flag.

Jason White made his third Xfinity appearance for MBM on the year, his fourth start of the season, and his 55th career Xfinity start. The Richmond, Virginia native started the #66 A-Game Ford Mustang from 34th based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. He recorded Stage 1 and 2 finishes outside of the Top 30 as the MBM team worked to improve the car over the bumps. White described his car as darty, and it was rough enough of a ride that the steering wheel was being jerked around as a result. Chassis adjustments improved this by Stage 3, and White drove up through the lead draft.

Photo Credit: R.J. Starcevic via Twitter @RJStarcevic.

Unfortunately, the 42-year-old was swept up in the multi-car accident on lap 102 that ended up being the final green flag circuit of the race. White was running in the outside lane, on the lead lap, as the lead draft was largely three-wide. He successfully turned down the track to get under most of the cars who made initial contact, but in doing so, broke the car free. After touching the apron, the car shot back up the track and made contact with the outside retaining wall. #98 Riley Herbst then impacted the driver's side door of the #66. Crash damage sustained in the accident ended the race for MBM. White finished 28th in his fourth Xfinity start at Talladega, having completed 101 laps.

The 230th NASCAR Xfinity Series start for David Starr lasted only 20 laps. After starting from 28th position, the Houston, Texas native had dropped to the rear of the field and seemed to be down on power. With the driver reporting low RPMs and the spotter confirming an audible miss from the engine, the MBM crew instructed Starr to bring the #61 Whataburger Toyota Supra to pit road. Under the hood, the crew found a loose spark plug and quickly returned Starr to the track. The issue seemed to be resolved for a handful of laps before Starr radioed in that he was once again down on power. This engine problem proved terminal, and the 53-year-old finished 40th after taking his car to the garage. This was the first non-crash DNF for Starr in the Xfinity Series at Talladega and ends his Xfinity running at the finish streak at this track at six consecutive races.

The #13 MBM Motorsports Toyota Supra entered the event to maintain its full-time status but did not make the starting field, as set by the rulebook. The #13 car remains 41st in the owner point standings.

►09/27/2021 - Cup Las Vegas Results

Frequent Rick Ware Racing competitor J.J. Yeley joined MBM Motorsports in a NASCAR national series for the second time in his career, after he raced for the team in the Xfinity Series season finale of 2020. The South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway marked his first NASCAR Cup Series start for MBM but his 715th in the top three divisions of NASCAR overall.

Yeley started 38th in the 38-car field based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. The #66 Fat Boy Premium Ice Cream Toyota Camry was forced to serve a drive-through penalty once the green flag flew due to three pre-race technical inspection failures. Rejoining the race, Yeley settled into P37, ahead of #15 Joey Gase for the majority of Stage 1.

Trouble arose for the Phoenix, Arizona native behind the wheel late in Stage 1. Just like what Stephen Leicht experienced in the Xfinity race at Richmond earlier this month, for the driver to turn the car, the steering wheel required rotating further and further to the left from its rest position. This accompanied by a severe vibration and a lack of consistent, predictable handling characteristics indicated a larger problem and forced Yeley to take the #66 to the garage area. The team diagnosed a wheel bearing failure, forcing the retirement the car. Yeley finished in 38th with 76 laps complete.

David Starr drove the #61 Angry Crab Shack Toyota Supra in his 10th Xfinity start at this circuit. The Houston, Texas native fought a tight-handling racecar through the event, but he took advantage of two free pass awards (one at the conclusion of Stage 1 and one in Stage 3) to achieve a strong 21st place result. This finish marks his fifth Top 25 at this track, and his best-result on a non-superspeedway since his P20 at New Hampshire in July. It was also the best finish for the #61 entry since Daytona, four races ago.

Matt Jaskol resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, so to race at his home track for the first-time in major professional motorsport was especially significant. The 36-year-old is also a professional tandem skydiving instructor, having completed approximately 2,500 jumps since starting seven years ago. Jaskol decided to commemorate his race with a dive into the track just prior to the standard driver introductions, a first in NASCAR. His 5,000 foot jump was completed successfully, and once on the ground, Jaskol presented Speedway Children's Charities with a $10,000 donation, made possible in part by his sponsor, Auto Parts 4 Less.

The #66 AutoParts4Less.com Toyota Supra rolled off the grid in 34th spot. Like his teammate, Jaskol also had to contend with a tight-handling racecar. In the final laps, the AP4Less machine picked up a vibration, which the MBM crew diagnosed as a wheel weight issue after the race. Jaskol powered through to finish P27, matching his result from Texas Motor Speedway for his personal-best on an Xfinity oval to date.

The #13 MBM Motorsports Toyota Supra entered the event to maintain its full-time status but did not make the starting field, as set by the rulebook. The #13 car remains 41st in the owner point standings.

►09/19/2021 - Cup Bristol Results

MBM Motorsports returned to the NASCAR Cup Series for another start in the Bass Pro Shops / NRA Night Race at the Bristol Motor Speedway. David Starr made his fourth premier series start of 2021, matching his personal-best for most Cup starts in a single season to date. This race marked his 14th premier series start overall and second at Bristol, a full decade on from his 27th place finish at this track for Leaving Family Racing in 2011.

Starr started 38th in the 38-car field based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. He settled into P37 in the early laps, overtaking #15 James Davison. The Houston, Texas native found his #66 Whataburger Toyota Camry to be extremely tight in the early going. After his pit crew made a big track bar adjustment to improve the handling, the car seemed to become more rigid and started bouncing aggressively through the corners. The MBM team discovered that the right rear shock bolt was broken, and they devised a plan to make repairs under their next pit stop.

Impressively, the MBM crew got the job done without losing an additional lap, just beating the pace car to the pit exit. Starr reached the green-and-white checkered flag of Stage 2 in P33. However, his car went back to the tight side of the handling spectrum with the shock bolt fixed. Starr asked for further adjustments on his next stop to recover the forward bite he had gained in his Whataburger machine.

Follow MBM Motorsports on Twitter @MBMMotorsports.

The 53-year-old wrestled the car to the finish in P32. In the final laps of the race, he was catching #52 Josh Bilicki for position, who was driving a wounded car after late race contact. The two drivers ended up on the same lap at the finish, but the #66 just ran out of laps to reach and overtake him. Starr reaching the checkered flag gives the MBM Motorsports #66 car its third consecutive running at the finish result, a season-high for the team. Starr himself has been on track for the finish in five of his last six Cup starts.

►09/18/2021 - Xfinity Bristol Results

Both MBM Motorsports cars that raced in the Food City 300 at the Bristol Motor Speedway suffered issues, preventing either car from achieving a result truly representative of their speed on the 0.533-mile concrete oval. With the Bristol Dirt weekend from March featuring only the NASCAR Cup and Truck Series, this race was the only visit to Bristol, Tennessee for the NASCAR Xfinity Series teams in 2021.

The quickest of the two MBM entries on the night was driven by David Starr. He started the #66 Whataburger Toyota Supra from 24th based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. The Houston, Texas native completed Stage 1 in 29th and took advantage of the wavearound opportunity at the stage caution to get back on the lead lap. While fighting a tight racecar throughout the event, Starr showed strength in Stage 2, competing inside the Top 25 for the high majority of the racing laps in that segment of the race.

Follow David Starr on Twitter @starr_racing.

Into Stage 3, Starr continued to report that his car "shoved the nose." The MBM team made chassis adjustments, and Starr was racing cars around him to be in the free position, should another yellow present itself. Instead, the 53-year-old was hit in the left-rear quarterpanel in Turn 4 by #44 Tommy Joe Martins, and both drivers spun out down the frontstretch. Starr kept the Whataburger machine off the wall but struggled to get the car to steer leftwards. MBM team owner Carl Long said over the radio that he suspected a tie road got hung up on the sway bar, which prevented the car from tracking correctly.

Like and Follow MBM Motorsports on Facebook @MBMMotorsports.

After considerable effort by Starr maneuvering off the wall, the car finally unlocked and the #66 was able to rejoin the field; however, the situation lost the lead MBM entry about three additional laps to the leaders. The #66 finished on a lap by itself in 30th position. Starr, making his 14th Xfinity start at Bristol, collected his ninth Top 30 in the series at this track.

After missing the race at Nashville by the narrowest of margins (one position and less than 7 hundredths of a second), Chad Finchum finally got his next Xfinity race opportunity at Bristol, just five days before his 27th birthday. At his home track, the Knoxville, Tennessee native rolled off the starting grid from 38th and took his first green flag since Charlotte in May, fourteen races ago. The #61 Black Oak Contracting, Inc. Toyota Supra, like the team car, produced a tight handling condition for the driver, particularly on corner entry.

Follow Chad Finchum on Twitter @ChadFinchum.

The MBM crew made major chassis adjustments, including wedge, track bar, and packer changes, and consequently the pace of the #61 entry improved. Just past lap 130, #17 Carson Ware ran into the back of Finchum on corner entry, shoving the #61 car up the track. Otherwise, Finchum got the car safely to the conclusion of Stage 2 in 32nd position. His race unraveled at the Stage 2 yellow, when the driver lost radio communication with his crew and spotter. The MBM crew eventually got the issue resolved and communication restored, but by this point, the Black Oak Contracting machine had lost several more laps while in the pits. An additional green flag pit stop thereafter dropped Finchum behind the cars he could have raced for position late in the event. The Tennessean soldiered home to collect 33rd place with 282 laps complete in his 105th Xfinity Series start.

David Starr rolled from the 37th starting spot in his #66 Helluva Ranch / ShareLife Vacations Toyota Supra. The Houston, Texas native battled through a lack of forward bite in the corners and a generally tight-handling condition throughout the race. He took advantage of a free pass award at the fifth caution flag to recover a lap and was able to reach the checkered flag on a lap by himself, the only driver a single lap down to the leaders. Starr finished 28th, collecting his seventh Top 30 in ten Xfinity starts at Richmond, including his last four straight.

Stephen Leicht, after serving as an MBM spotter at most of the oval tracks in 2021, made his first Xfinity oval appearance of the year as a driver at Richmond. Piloting the #61 Jani-King Toyota Supra from the 36th starting spot, as soon as the green flag dropped, the Asheville, North Carolina felt something amiss in the front end of his car. Without wall contact, his steering wheel had rotated left nearly five inches in the opening stint from where it started the race. The MBM crew raised the hood on pit road and discovered one of the tie rods was loose. After repairs, Leicht returned to the event, finishing the race on track but in 38th place. The 34-year-old completed 220 of 250 possible laps. He has been running at the finish in all four of his Xfinity starts this season.

►09/06/2021 - Xfinity Darlington Results

The NASCAR Xfinity Series Sport Clips / VFW Help a Hero 200 at the tricky Darlington Raceway saw both MBM Motorsports cars finish the day without Darlington stripes, keeping their cars clean, but only one was able to get to the checkered flag.

Follow David Starr on Twitter @starr_racing.

David Starr, who entered Darlington with 225 Xfinity Series starts, a milestone he reached last week at Daytona, piloted the #61 Whataburger Toyota Supra. The Houston, Texas native fought a loose-handling racecar, particularly off of Turn 4. Starr salvaged a P30 finish from his afternoon, beating #74 Carson Ware back to the checkered flag in NASCAR Overtime to secure his 13th Top 30 finish from 18 starts so far this season.

Follow MBM Motorsports on Twitter @MBMMotorsports.

Timmy Hill made his first Xfinity oval start for MBM since Charlotte on May 29th. Behind the wheel of the #66 James Carter Attorney at Law / Coble Enterprises Ford Mustang, the Port Tobacco, Maryland native showed the stronger pace of the two MBM cars in the first half of the event. Hill collected a very respectable 22nd place finish in Stage 2, and he ran inside the Top 20 for the early laps of Stage 3.

Like and Follow Carl Long Motorsports on Facebook @CarlLongMotorsports.

The first caution flag in Stage 3 occurred 12 laps after the race went back to green from the stage break. MBM decided to keep Hill out on track, the only car to employ such a strategy and restart in front of the leaders. While the #66 team sacrificed the advantage of fresh rubber at this point of the race, if a late restart presented itself, MBM would have benefitted from a significant tire advantage over many of its rival teams. However, coming up through the gearbox on the restart, the #66 got stuck in second gear and would not upshift. Good driving and good fortune kept the #66 from getting run over by the field as it accelerated on the restart, but the mechanical issue forced the team to retire the car. Hill was credited with three laps led, his first since the season opener in Daytona. The 28-year-old completed 116 laps and finished 36th.

►08/30/2021 - Cup Daytona Results

On another dramatic night of superspeedway racing, the NASCAR Cup Series again ran the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway as the last race of the regular season. MBM Motorsports driver David Starr pulled double-duty, finishing a terrific 14th place in the Xfinity Series race, which finished Saturday afternoon after being postponed from Friday mid-race due to rain.

Like and Follow MBM Motorsports on Facebook @MBMMotorsports.

On the Cup side, Starr raced the #66 Midwest Mobile Tech / TicketSmarter Ford Mustang, beginning his event from the 40th starting spot in the 40-car field, as determined by the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. The MBM team picked up the free pass award at the competition caution, restoring the #66 car to the lead lap for the restart. Starr would wind up two laps back of the leaders as the finish neared, but crucially, the Houston, Texas native was able to avoid the incidents and take advantage of issues for his competitors.

Follow MBM Motorsports on Twitter @MBMMotorsports.

The 53-year-old, in his 13th Cup start, kept his car clean and beat several other drivers on his lap back to the checkered flag, winding up 28th on the road. However, the post-race disqualification of another team due to a technical inspection failure promoted the #66 to 27th in the final classification. That result matches the career-best Cup finish for Starr, which he previously set at Bristol in 2011, then driving for Leavine Family Racing. The MBM Motorsports Cup program has back-to-back Top 30s for the first time in 2021, after two such streaks last year.

►08/30/2021 - Xfinity Daytona Results

MBM Motorsports-fielded cars picked up two strong points finishes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Wawa 250 at Daytona International Speedway, with both cars scoring Top 15 finishes.

The 100-lap event began on Friday night, but as the competition caution was nearing its conclusion, rain arrived to the track and forced NASCAR to display the red flag. The field completed 19 laps before the race was halted, and with the rain continuing, NASCAR postponed the remaining 81 laps to early Saturday afternoon, when the event was run to its completion.

Frequent MBM competitor this season David Starr returned to the seat of the #61 Whataburger Toyota Supra at Daytona on the night in which he was making his 225th Xfinity Series start. Starr pulled double-duty, competing in both the Xfinity and Cup races for MBM on the 2.5-mile superspeedway. The Houston, Texas native rolled off the starting grid in 32nd, and he found himself in an unrepresentative 39th place at the red flag for rain. The #61 team had made multiple pit stops under the competition yellow to work on a battery problem, leaving Starr last of the cars running but crucially still on the lead lap.

The Whataburger machine needed a push start to leave pit road on Saturday when the race resumed, but fortunately the engine did turn over and the 53-year-old rejoined the pack. After a strong 16th place Stage 2 finish, Starr continued to compete in the lead draft in Stage 3, fighting for Top 20 positions. Despite lots of aggressive driving in the final laps by the field as a whole, the final 14 laps of the race were all completed under the green flag. Starr put his experience to great use and maneuvered up to 14th place by the checkered flag, collecting his best Xfinity finish of the season so far, an improvement over 16th place at the other major superspeedway: Talladega. The result is his best in the series since a 13th place run at Texas in July 2020 and his 12th career Xfinity Top 15. The #61 team has improved six positions in the owner point championship standings in just the last two races.

The MBM crew gives David Starr an assist
refiring after a pit stop just before the race went back
to green on Saturday following the overnight rain delay.

Jason White, competing in his third Xfinity superspeedway race of the year, again teamed up with MBM Motorsports. At Talladega earlier in the year, White piloted an RSS Racing-prepared #13 Ford for MBM. That relationship continued for this August Daytona weekend, with the Richmond, Virginia native driving the #66 A-Game Ford Mustang.

Rolling from 35th on the starting grid, White drove fairly conservatively in the early laps, standing in 34th place at the red flag. Once the race resumed on Saturday, some drivers reported that the #66 car was leaking fluid. NASCAR told the team to pit under the following caution and investigate the source of the fluid. The MBM crew raised the decklid, but the back of the car was clean. With a diagnosis of some residual oil burning off, White returned to the racetrack. Now off-sequence, the MBM team employed an alternate pit strategy to get the 42-year-old into the front half of the field. Like his teammate, White spent many laps competing for positions in the lead draft. With a P24 Stage 2 finish, he continued moving forward in the final laps and wound up in 15th place at the checkered flag. That gives White his second Top 15 in three starts this season and his third career Xfinity Top 15. The #66 car jumped back inside the Top 30 in owner points with that finish, moving up from 31st to 29th in the season-long championship standings.

Houston, Texas native David Starr piloted the #66 Sinex Transport Toyota Supra. Starting from 37th position, Starr fired off with a loose handling condition, which the MBM crew improved with chassis adjustments. The race had three NASCAR Overtime attempts, extending the race distance from a scheduled 125 laps to 139 total. The 53-year-old racer got the car to the finish up in 22nd place, the best placed car of six on his lap at the checkered flag. The #66 team now has 11 Top 25 finishes in 2021, and Starr is up to eight Top 25s this season.

Hattori Racing Enterprises stepped in to field the #61 entry for the second consecutive race. Bubba Wallace, a race winner in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and now full-time Cup driver for 23XI Racing, drove the #61 AISIN Toyota Supra as regular HRE driver Austin Hill focused on his championship challenge in the Truck Series. Wallace scored a 10th place finish, the second Top 10 of the year for the #61 car. That is a huge result for HRE and MBM in the car owner point standings, as it restores the #61 team to a Top 36 points position, which has important implications for the prize money awarded to teams at each event.

The #13 MBM Motorsports Toyota Supra entered the event to maintain its full-time status but did not make the starting field, as set by the rulebook. The #13 car remains 41st in the owner point standings.

►08/26/2021 - Cup Indianapolis Road Course Results

Hill got the car to the checkered flag in 27th place, besting #53 Garrett Smithley of Rick Ware Racing for position at the finish. P27 is an MBM Cup program best this season, the third Top 30 result (all scored by Hill), and the best team result in the premier series since Hill placed in the Top 15 at Talladega in October of 2020.

►08/26/2021 - Xfinity Indianapolis Road Course Results

MBM Motorsports had an extremely difficult Saturday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, as the team attempted to compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Pennzoil 150 at the Brickyard.

A mammoth-sized field of 44 teams, with numerous road racing specialists entered, attempted to qualify for the 36 available starting positions, of which 31 would make the starting lineup on their Round 1 group qualifying speed.

Matt Jaskol made his seventh career Xfinity attempt in the #66 AutoParts4Less.com Toyota Supra, debuting a new livery for the AP4Less brand. The Agoura Hills, California native practiced 27th fastest, best of the MBM entries, on Friday. However, the 36-year-old lacked forward bite in qualifying and was unable to get back to the accelerator soon enough on his corner exits. Jaskol improved his speed late in the session, but he ended up 34th in the order, three positions away from a spot in the field on time. The #66 suffered its second DNQ of the season, falling 0.082 seconds short of the Top 31.
Follow Christopher Davenport on Twitter @AP4Less.

Stephen Leicht made his fifth Xfinity Series appearance of the season, all five of which have come on road courses. The Asheville, North Carolina driver placed 39th best in the Friday practice session. Leicht went on track early in qualifying, and after completing one lap at speed, was on pace to set a much faster second lap, but suffered a big right front tire lock up. The lock up caused a huge flat spot and tire vibration, ruining his best lap. Back on pit road, a puddle of water developed under the car, and the MBM crew raised the hood to diagnose the source of the water. However, NASCAR rules prevent a driver from returning to the track in qualifying once the hood is opened. Leicht had to stand on his opening time, which did not hold up for the Top 31. The #13 car ended up 36th fastest overall, failing to qualify for the race by 0.182 seconds.

Giorgio Maggi, a native of Hergiswil, Switzerland and who brought experience from the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, attempted to qualify for his first NASCAR Xfinity Series race in the #42 Toyota Supra, which carried sponsorship from several different companies on the hood and quarterpanels. The 23-year-old improved throughout the 50-minute Friday practice, running his best time on his 17th and final lap on track, improving to 38th fastest. Maggi stepped it more than 1.3 seconds further in qualifying, but track conditions were much quicker in the morning session, and the debutant failed to make the race, timing in 41st fastest overall. The Swiss driver fought a tight handling condition in the slow speed corners and a loose condition on the exit of high speed corners throughout the weekend.

Hattori Racing Enterprises fielded the #61 entry at the IMS Road Course for NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship competitor Austin Hill. The Winston, Georgia driver made the Top 31 in qualifying, placing 28th fastest, but had to retire the car prematurely in the race with a power steering failure. The #61 team finished 29th with 27 of 62 laps complete.

►08/14/2021 - Xfinity Watkins Glen Results

Returning from two consecutive off-weekends, the NASCAR Xfinity Series teams competed at Watkins Glen International in the Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey 200, racing 82 laps around the 2.45-mile road course without the benefit of on-track practice or qualifying.

Stephen Leicht started his third NASCAR Xfinity Series race of 2021 at Watkins Glen. The Asheville, North Carolina native drove the #61 Jani-King Toyota Supra, using the same chassis that Boris Said attempted to qualify at Road America and David Starr raced at Mid-Ohio. Leicht rolled off the starting grid from 40th based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric, but he encountered transmission trouble early in Stage 1. The Jani-King machine got stuck in fourth gear in the opening stint, and the mechanical woes meant Leicht had to run the majority of the race distance using only third gear. With the help of multiple free pass awards, Leicht got the #61 car to the checkered flag on the lead lap in P28, just behind #78 Jesse Little after a close final lap battle. It is the first lead lap finish for the #61 entry since Austin Hill scored 9th place for Hattori Racing Enterprises at Nashville, and the first lead lap for an MBM #61 since David Starr finished 17th at Darlington in May. It was the third Xfinity lead lap finish for Leicht in his fifth start at Watkins Glen.

Timmy Hill made his first Xfinity start since Road America and his first in the #66 ride since Charlotte in May, rolling the #66 Mercy Flight Central Chevrolet Camaro from the 32nd grid position. This entry was fielded in partnership with Fleur-De-Lis Motorsports. The owner of Fleur-De-Lis, Craig Partee, was seriously injured last year in a barn collapse that occurred during its dismantling. Partee was trapped under the collapsed structure for over one hour, before first responders were able to extricate him from the rubble and transport him to a trauma center via Mercy Flight Central air medical services. "I wanted to do something special to show my appreciation to the first responders and law enforcement officials who worked so hard and didn't give up on me. They extricated me from under the barn and gave me a second chance at life," said Partee. "If it weren't for them risking their own lives to save mine, I probably would not be here today." Fittingly, the car raced by Hill on Saturday was named "2nd Chances."

Hill entered the event with a best Xfinity finish at this track of 31st in 2011. The 28-year-old collected a Top 20 result in Stage 1 and a 23rd place finish in Stage 2, building optimism that he would be able to back up his lead lap, Top 20 finish from last month at Road America. However, in Stage 3, the #66 car experienced an issue and had to make an unscheduled pit stop for fresh tires. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native also had to overcome his car jumping out of gear, so both MBM cars had transmission issues at the high-speed Watkins Glen International. Hill got trapped a lap down in Stage 3 and salvaged a 29th place result, the highest placed driver not on the lead lap and his Xfinity personal-best at this circuit.

The #13 MBM Motorsports Toyota Supra entered the event to maintain its full-time status but did not make the starting field, as set by the rulebook. The #13 car remains 41st in the owner point standings.

Practice and qualifying return for the NASCAR Xfinity Series next weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, the final on-track non-race sessions for the series until the season finale at Phoenix. MBM plans to field four entries in the event. To guarantee a starting spot on time, a car needs to be among the fastest 31 teams in qualifying.

►07/18/2021 - Xfinity New Hampshire Results

After the NASCAR Xfinity Series was unable to race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Xfinity drivers and teams returned to compete at NHMS for the 34th time, with the running of the Ambetter Get Vaccinated 200. With the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour also competing on Saturday at the track, NASCAR did not spray any of the PJ1 TrackBite (traction compound) onto the 1.058-mile track surface heading into the Xfinity race.

MBM Motorsports had two cars in the starting field, as determined by the rulebook. David Starr drove the lead MBM entry in his sixth Xfinity start at this track. Rolling from 38th on the grid, the Houston, Texas native made it up to P33 by the competition caution despite having a radio communications issue. The MBM crew got the problem resolved under the first yellow, giving Starr the confidence to begin driving the #66 Vodkyte Toyota Supra more aggressively.

Follow MBM Motorsports on Twitter @MBMMotorsports.

The 53-year-old veteran advanced up to 27th by the end of Stage 1 and 21st by the end of Stage 2, still on the lead lap. The car handled well for the majority of the race, with Starr requesting a small adjustment to acquire just a little bit more forward bite late in the corners. Starr ran nearly the entirety of Stage 3 on the edge of the Top 20, asking for a chassis adjustment at the final pit stop to free the car up slightly. The #66 team finished the race on scuffed tires, but Starr's experience prevailed, getting the Vodkyte machine home in 20th place. That result is the first-ever Top 20 at New Hampshire for MBM Motorsports, improving from a 21st place by Chad Finchum in 2018. It is also an Xfinity personal-best for Starr at this circuit, topping his 22nd place finish in 2015. The MBM #66 is now up to eight Top 20 finishes in 2021.

C.J. McLaughlin, competing in his second Xfinity race for MBM Motorsports, returned to the site of his series debut, where he finished 28th for RSS Racing in 2019. The #61 SciAps Toyota Supra started 39th and improved in pace throughout the first 100 laps of the event. With the benefit of a free pass at the competition caution, McLaughlin finished Stage 2 in 34th, only one lap down to the leaders. The #61 team decided to gamble and take advantage of the wavearound opportunity presented by the stage caution, restoring McLaughlin to the lead lap for the beginning of Stage 3 and running inside the Top 25. The Framingham, Massachusetts native needed a caution within the first 35 or so laps of the beginning of Stage 3 for the gamble to pay off, but the yellow did not arrive in time.

After his green flag stop, the caution did fly for the fifth time in the Ambetter Get Vaccinated 200. The 29-year-old again took the wavearound, since he had enough fuel to reach the checkered flag. However, under green on lap 168, the SciAps machine abruptly lost power exiting Turn 2, and the driver reported sparks inside the car. The MBM team worked quickly to diagnose the root of the electrical short, but they simply ran out of laps to return to the race. McLaughlin collected a 37th place finish from his 13th career Xfinity start.

►07/10/2021 - Xfinity Atlanta Results

For the second time in 2021 and the final time on the current asphalt, the NASCAR Xfinity Series contested a race at the 1.54-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway. On Tuesday earlier in the week, NASCAR announced plans to repave the track prior to its race weekends in 2022, increasing the banking in the corners to 28 degrees and decreasing the track width by as much as 15 feet in the corners.

The final Xfinity race on the current surface, the Credit Karma Money 250, was not kind to MBM Motorsports.

C.J. McLaughlin joined MBM for the first time, competing in the #66 SA Recycling / Sci-Aps Ford Mustang. Entering Atlanta, McLaughlin had started a total of 11 Xfinity races between two organizations: RSS Racing and B.J. McLeod Motorsports. The Framingham, Massachusetts native has also made three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts for Reaume Brothers Racing. McLaughlin, making his first Xfinity appearance of the season, had to do it without practice or qualifying, as NASCAR again returned to setting the field with the Qualifying Performance Metric.

Pre-race preparations before heading to the grid.

Rolling off the grid from 34th, McLaughlin planned to run conservatively in the early laps, building his confidence and his speed. But from the very beginning, the 29-year-old had issues with his engine at high speed. The MBM crew, thinking they may be down a cylinder, pitted the #66 car on the opening green flag stint to check that all the plug wires were still attached. After being unable to find the issue on pit road, McLaughlin had to drive the SA Recycling machine behind the wall. The issue was diagnosed in the garage, repaired, and the #66 returned to the track several laps down.

The other MBM entry to start the race was the #61 Whataburger Toyota Supra, driven by David Starr. Based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric, Starr began his race from the 35th starting spot. The Houston, Texas native reported his car was loose everywhere on the opening stint, so at the competition caution the MBM team pitted Starr to make adjustments, as well as take advantage of the opportunity to put on fresh tires. After running outside the Top 35 in his opening stint, Starr immediately started moving forward on the new rubber, advancing all the way up to 20th by the green-and-white checkered flag that ended Stage 1.

Disaster struck for the 53-year-old competitor in Stage 2. Running through Turns 3 and 4, Starr had #0 Jeffrey Earnhardt looking to his inside and #5 Matt Mills looking to his outside. Exiting Turn 4, Starr moved up the racetrack, and Mills made contact with the right rear corner of the Whataburger machine, turning Starr hard into the outside retaining wall. The damage was significant enough to not be repairable on pit lane under the NASCAR Damaged Vehicle Policy, so Starr had to retire the #61 car from the race. His ninth Xfinity start at this track resulted in a 40th place finish.

Right-side damage to the #61 after retiring from the race.

Meanwhile, McLaughlin continued to make laps in the #66 out on track. However, it was a very hot day at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, with the actual temperature near 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and high humidity creating a heat index much warmer than that. McLaughlin began to feel the effects of the heat inside the racecar, where temperatures can rise 30-40 degrees warmer than the outdoor, ambient conditions. MBM called for Starr to hustle back to pit lane after being checked and released from the infield care center for his incident. Around lap 117, McLaughlin indeed came down pit road, seeking medical attention, and Starr relieved him in the driving duties of the #66 car for the remainder of the race. Together, the two drivers completed 139 laps in the #66 Ford, finishing 37th. Since McLaughlin started the car, he is credited with the finishing position in his first Xfinity Atlanta race.

Starr waits on the #66 pit box, preparing to relieve McLaughlin.

The #13 MBM Motorsports Toyota Supra entered the event to maintain its full-time status but did not make the starting field, as set by the rulebook. The #13 car remains 41st in the owner point standings.

►07/07/2021 - Xfinity Road America Results

MBM Motorsports brought four NASCAR Xfinity Series cars to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, as the team attempted to get each qualified into the 36-car field for the Henry 180 at Road America. This was the second race weekend of 2021 in which MBM entered four cars and the first such occasion at a road course. With 43 entries, seven drivers would be sent home following qualifying without starting the race. To guarantee a starting spot, teams needed to be in the fastest 31 cars during Saturday morning qualifying.

Timmy Hill returned to the cockpit this week to pilot the #42 MBM Motorsports Toyota Supra. On scuffed tires, the Port Tobacco, Maryland native practiced at a lap time of 2:20.117, placing him 34th in the order and about four tenths of a second outside the Top 31. The track was faster come morning qualifying, and between the conditions and new tires, Hill improved his time by nearly two seconds, setting a 2:18.388. That effort came on his first timed lap, and it held up for 29th place, successfully qualifying into the field with more than four tenths of a second to spare.

The 28-year-old ran conservatively in the first two stages of the Henry 180, collecting a solid 26th place in Stage 2. Late in Stage 3, the #42 team pitted Hill for fresh rubber, and the driver planned to push his car harder in the late race restarts. However, the pit crew inadvertently switched the left-side tires: the intended left rear tire was placed on the front of the car, and the intended front was placed on the rear axle. With the left-side tire pressures now out of alignment, Hill was limited in what he could achieve on the final green flag run, but the MBM man still pushed hard in the final stint. Hill passed Alex Labbe on the penultimate lap of the race to capture a terrific P20 at the checkered flag. Now through five Xfinity starts at Road America, Hill has recorded four lead lap finishes and four Top 25s.

Stephen Leicht climbed back behind the wheel in the Xfinity Series for MBM as the tour went road course racing. The Asheville, North Carolina practiced his #13 Jani-King Toyota Supra 37th fastest, slowest of the four MBM entries at a time of 2:20.817 and entered Saturday qualifying knowing he needed to pick his pace up. And pick his pace up he did! Leicht timed in at 2:18.641, more than two full seconds faster than his best practice lap. The team had to endure big stress late in Round 1 of qualifying, as the #13 car slid down onto the bubble, exactly 31st fastest. The Jani-King car held on to make the race on time, earning Leicht his second start of the season and fourth-career Xfinity start at Road America. The #13 team, by successfully qualifying into the field, was set to race for the first time since Charlotte on May 29th

The 34-year-old finished Stage 2 in a very respectable 25th place, and like his teammate Hill, planned to push harder in the late laps of Stage 3. But while running just outside of the Top 20 in the final stint, the car suffered a major mechanical failure. A motor mount collapsed, enabling the drive shaft to start working itself loose, and causing a severe vibration on the car. Leicht limped his Toyota Supra home to collect 26th place, on the lead lap and still ahead of one other lead lap car. P26 marks the third-best result for MBM #13 team this season and their third lead lap of the year.

Matt Jaskol, competing in his sixth national NASCAR series weekend, had his first opportunity to compete laps on track in practice prior to the drop of the green flag in the race. The #66 AutoParts4Less.com Toyota Supra performed remarkably well in Friday practice, with the Agoura Hills, California native posting a time of 2:18.772, fast enough to hold 20th place at the end of the session. Big trouble struck in qualifying though, as with large tire degradation, the first lap on track should be the fastest. However, the 36-year-old encountered traffic on his first timed lap and got blocked, costing him considerable lap time. The #66 team went back out for a second run, and Jaskol improved about one tenth of a second, enough of a gain to beat #52 Gray Gaulding for position, but only elevating the Auto Parts 4 Less machine to 32nd in the order. His final lap on track in the session included a spin in Turn 6, as he hunted for any remaining pace in the car. Round 1 ended with no additional changes to the qualifying bubble, and Jaskol ultimately missed the Top 31 by a single position and just 0.228 seconds on time. When the five owner point provisionals were awarded, the #66 team was sadly the sixth highest car in points that missed the Top 31, causing the #66 team to fail to qualify for the first time in 2021.

Road course racing veteran Boris Said returned to MBM Motorsports in an attempt to qualify for his second Xfinity Series event of the season. The 58-year-old entered the weekend with one prior Xfinity appearance at this circuit, starting 7th and finishing 6th in 2015 for Joe Gibbs Racing. Said practiced the #61 KunesRV.com Toyota Supra 28th fastest on Friday, at a time of 2:19.329. His speed was hindered by a carburetor issue, which the MBM crew replaced prior to qualifying. However, when the Carlsbad, California took to the track for his qualifying run, the carburetor issue returned. The early diagnosis was that debris entered the fuel lines during the swap, precipitating the lingering issue. Despite the mechanical limitation, Said put in a valiant effort to try to crack the starting field, turning seven laps in qualifying, equal most of any team in Round 1. High tire wear at Road America however meant his first lap proved to be his time of record. Said wound up outside the Top 31 by 0.908 seconds around the 4.048-mile road course. Of non-Top 31 cars, the #61 team would have been next in line for a provisional after the #66 team. This means two MBM cars missed the race at Road America, and they were the two highest cars in points of the seven sent home from the event after qualifying. This was the third DNQ for the #61 in 2021, and the second-career Xfinity DNQ for Said. His only previous qualifying miss came at Las Vegas in 2000, more than two decades before.

►06/27/2021 - Cup Pocono Race 2 Results

The NASCAR Cup Series contested its second full-points race in two days at the Pocono Raceway on Sunday with the running of the Explore the Pocono Mountains 350. The two races this weekend were the only two Cup races scheduled on consecutive days for the 2021 season. Three doubleheaders were contested in 2020: those events were held at Dover, Michigan, and at this 2.5-mile, three-turn circuit in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.

Timmy Hill made his ninth premier series start at Pocono, driving the #66 M&M Mechanical Toyota Camry for MBM Motorsports. Due to his finish in the 130-lap race on Saturday, Hill started his MBM machine from 35th place. Attrition was limited in the 350-mile event, leaving few opportunities for the 28-year-old to advance his position. The MBM crew battled hard to keep the car above minimum speed throughout the race, but ultimately had to retire in Stage 3. With 113 laps complete, the Port Tobacco, Maryland native went to the garage, citing handling woes, and finished 37th.

Follow MBM Motorsports on Twitter @MBMMotorsports.

The MBM Motorsports Cup program will not enter the next race on the schedule at Road America, as the team will be busy attempting to qualify and race four Xfinity cars. The next Cup event for MBM will be in two weeks at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

►06/27/2021 - Xfinity Pocono Results

The Pocono Green 225 included a frantic start for the MBM Motorsports team, solid pace in the race, and a disappointing finish.

For the sixth time, the NASCAR Xfinity Series competed at the 2.5-mile, triangle-shaped Pocono Raceway. The sole independent MBM entry to start the event was the #66 Alarm Tech Toyota Supra, driven by David Starr. The Houston, Texas native was due to start 25th based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric that sets the starting order when no practice or qualifying is scheduled. However, when the command to start engines was given at Pocono, the #66 car did not fire. The MBM crew had to push the Alarm Tech machine behind the wall as the rest of the grid rolled away to begin their parade and pace laps.

Photo Credit: r/NASCAR on Reddit via Twitter @NASCARonReddit

Fortunately, the crew was able to get the car running once behind the wall, and Starr rejoined the field for its final pace lap prior to the race start. The 53-year-old advanced quickly from the back of the field, reaching 32nd position by lap 4. Starr reported that he was dealing with a tight handling condition, needing the car to rotate better through the center of the corners and to reduce how tight he was on corner exit. The MBM crew made adjustments to improve their pace, and the Alarm Tech car responded. Starr collected a 30th place Stage 1 finish and a very solid 24th place Stage 2 finish.

Follow David Starr on Twitter @starr_racing.

In Stage 3, the race strategies diverged across the field. MBM tried to make the final green flag stint without a pit stop, and the fuel tank ran dry with less than three laps to go. Starr was running well inside the Top 20 at the time and was poised for a great finish, but the car proved difficult to restart on pit road. The #66 fell back to 33rd as a result of running out of fuel, and while shown as running at the finish, was only given credit for completing 87 laps.

For the second consecutive weekend, Hattori Racing Enterprises (HRE) ran the #61 Toyota Tsusho Toyota Supra for their NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Austin Hill. HRE earned a Top 15 starting spot with the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric, and Hill got the #61 car to the checkered flag in 25th position. The Winston, Georgia native demonstrated considerably more pace than his finishing position reflects in the race, but he had to serve a drive-through penalty under green for his pit crew being over the wall too soon on their last stop.

The #13 MBM Motorsports Toyota Supra was entered for the Pocono race but did not make the starting field, as set by the rulebook. The #13 car remains 41st in the owner point standings.

The next race weekend at Road America does include practice and qualifying on the schedule. MBM plans to field four entries in the event: #13 Boris Said, #42 Timmy Hill, #61 Stephen Leicht, and #66 Matt Jaskol. To guarantee a starting spot on time, a car needs to be among the fastest 31 teams in qualifying.

►06/26/2021 - Cup Pocono Race 1 Results

Timmy Hill made his 135th NASCAR Cup Series start at Pocono Raceway on Saturday in the Pocono Organics CBD 325, the first of two full-distance points races on the schedule for this weekend.

Photo Credit: Johnny Jackson via Facebook.

The Port Tobacco, Maryland native, in his eighth Cup race at Pocono, started from the 38th position. The #66 M&M Mechanical Toyota Camry had its water temperature rise to 245 degrees Fahrenheit by lap 31, raising concern that a green flag pit stop may be required to remove front grille tape. Hill was able to get close behind #52 Josh Bilicki and clear the nose of any debris, and the water eventually cooled back down into the 230s.

Like and Follow MBM Motorsports on Facebook @MBMMotorsports.

With some off-sequence pit strategy by other cars, the #66 picked up Stage 1 and 2 finishes of 34th and 33rd, respectively. With the aid of a free pass award, the MBM car still ran on the lead lap to begin Stage 3. However, Hill lost pace in the final leg of the event, with the handling of his car deteriorating to a wrecking loose sensation. The M&M Mechanical car reached the checkered flag in P35, still running on track. The result is the fifth Top 35 Cup finish for Hill at this track and the third at Pocono for MBM.

►06/20/2021 - Cup Nashville Results

For the first time since Texas in October of last season, MBM Motorsports started two NASCAR Cup Series cars in a full-distance, full-points race. This week, the premier series of NASCAR returned to Nashville for the first time since 1984, when the tour raced at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. In 2021, the sport took all three national touring series to the 1.33-mile concrete-surfaced Nashville Superspeedway, last ran by Xfinity and Trucks in 2011, in an event headlined by the Ally 400 on Sunday.

Chad Finchum made his first Cup appearance of the year in his home state, as the Knoxville, Tennessee driver drove the #66 Smithbilt Homes Toyota Camry. While Nashville was the first race for these colors at the Cup level, MBM fans will recognize the Smithbilt Homes livery from several of his Xfinity attempts in the last two years.

Photo Credit: Johnny Jackson via Facebook.

The 26-year-old practiced 37th fastest on Saturday, turning a lap time of 31.731 seconds. On Sunday morning, Finchum went out to qualify and picked up his pace in a big way, clocking in at 30.804 seconds. His more than nine tenth of a second pickup was strong enough for 33rd on the grid, a new personal-best Cup starting spot for the Tennessean in his fifth Cup race.

Like and Follow MBM Motorsports on Facebook @MBMMotorsports.

Unfortunately, the strong qualifying pace did not translate into the early laps of the race. The Smithbilt Homes machine was extraordinarily tight, and despite multiple big chassis adjustments on pit stops, the car remained tight throughout the Ally 400. Finchum made a green flag pit stop just before the caution for #8 Tyler Reddick spinning, but rather than take advantage of the wavearound opportunity, MBM pitted the #66 again to continue to work on the handling of the racecar. High attrition meant a good result was still on the table, but on lap 152, Finchum radioed in that something felt wrong in the front end of the car. He described the steering wheel as feeling "lazy." After a precautionary pit stop to inspect the car and change tires, Finchum went back onto the track, but he picked up a vibration and found the car to be darty on corner entry. The MBM crew took the car to the garage to further diagnose the issue, and after making a few more laps with the no improvement, the #66 had to be retired from the race. With 157 laps completed, and after the disqualification of a competitor, Finchum officially finished 33rd, out with rear end woes. P33 matches his best Cup result to date; he also finished in that position in his series debut at Bristol in 2018.

After the return of the #13 entry for the All-Star Open at Texas Motor Speedway, MBM rolled the same chassis into Nashville for David Starr to pilot. The Houston, Texas native practiced the #13 Ripper Magoos @BobMenery / Lean Solutions Group Toyota Camry 38th quickest at a time of 32.165 seconds, and he stepped it up to a 31.691 second lap in qualifying, again putting him 38th on the grid.

Follow MBM Motorsports on Twitter @MBMMotorsports.

Despite trailing the #66 in practice and qualifying, Starr was the quicker of the two MBM entries once the race got underway. Like his teammate, Starr found that his car was tight on the brakes getting down into the corner and in the center of the turns. The 53-year-old's opportunity to compete for a Top 30 came to an abrupt end, when one of the brake rotors on the #13 car exploded and ripped the brake line off the car. Starr coasted back to the garage area and retired with 126 laps completed. After the previously mentioned competitor disqualification, Starr wound up 34th in the finishing order. P34 is the best race result in a full-distance point race for the second MBM Motorsports Cup entry in team history, besting the P35 that Chad Finchum earned at Texas last season.

►06/20/2021 - Xfinity Nashville Results

MBM Motorsports had an incredibly disappointing qualifying session for the Tennessee Lottery 250, but a good race result in the return of the NASCAR Xfinity Series to Nashville Superspeedway for the first time since 2011, one decade ago.

David Starr pulled double-duty at Nashville, running the #13 car in the NASCAR Cup Series and the #66 Whataburger Toyota Supra in the Xfinity Series. The 53-year-old entered the event with prior Xfinity level experience at this track, as he finished 29th in the April 2004 race at the 1.33-mile concrete oval. Starr drove a strong practice lap on Friday that placed him 25th fastest of the 42 cars attempting to qualify. The grid was set on Saturday, with single-car, single-lap qualifying, and Starr ran a lap of 31.647 seconds. That time missed the Top 31 that make the race on their speed by less than two tenths of a second, but fortunately the season-long performance from the MBM #66 entry had earned them enough owner points to secure a provisional starting spot in the race.

Follow David Starr on Twitter @starr_racing.

Rolling the Whataburger machine off from 34th on the starting grid, Starr battled a tight racecar in the opening stint. He was one of ten drivers to fall a lap down to the leaders in Stage 1, taking the green-and-white checkered flag in 31st. He ran in 29th for much of the first green flag run in Stage 2, and after the caution for the spin of #99 Stefan Parsons, he battled hard to try to reach the free pass position. The #66 passed the #5 Matt Mills, #47 Kyle Weatherman, and others, but came up one spot shy of the end of Stage 2 free pass, leaving Starr a lap down in 28th place. The Houston, Texas native continued battling a tight handling condition in Stage 3, but he managed to take advantage of the attrition to reach P24 by the checkered flag, the highest placed car on his lap at the checkered. Starr recorded his sixth Top 25 of the season, while the MBM #66 is now up to nine Top 25s on the year.

Qualifying disappointment reigned for the other two independent MBM Motorsports entries. Timmy Hill practiced the #13 Special Report with Bret Baier / Black Tie Moving Toyota Supra a remarkable 23rd fastest on Friday, but the #13 team again picked the first position in the qualifying draw. While that provided a temperature advantage at Charlotte a few weeks back, it worked as a disadvantage at Nashville due to the unknown track conditions. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native qualified at a time of 31.553 seconds. He missed the Top 31 by just two positions and 77 thousandths of a second on the stopwatch, but despite the close margin, the #13 team failed to qualify.

Follow Timmy Hill on Twitter @TimmyHillRacer.

Chad Finchum got even closer. The #42 Garrison Homes / Toyota of Knoxville Toyota Supra was 36th best in practice, and the Knoxville, Tennessee native stepped it up more than a quarter of a second on his time trial lap, recording a 31.543. He missed the Top 31 by just a single position and 67 thousandths of a second on the clock. It was the third DNQ of Finchum's Xfinity Series career, and twice in those three he has missed making the starting field by a single position.

Follow Chad Finchum on Twitter @ChadFinchum.

This event was the first time MBM Motorsports has failed to qualify two Xfinity cars at the same event since the 2016 season opener at Daytona, when #13 Mark Thompson and #40 Derek White were both among eight drivers to miss that 40-car field.

Follow Chad Finchum on Facebook @ChadFinchum.

Hattori Racing Enterprises (HRE) fielded the #61 AISIN Toyota Supra for their full-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Austin Hill. HRE will run the #61 car five more times in 2021, including next week at Pocono. The Winston, Georgia driver qualified for the race on time, started P15, and finished P9. That strong points day moved the #61 car back up to 31st in the car owner point standings. MBM will run the #61 car next at Road America.

►06/15/2021 - Cup Texas All-Star Open Results

Texas Motor Speedway hosted the NASCAR Cup Series All-Star race weekend for the first time this season, becoming just the third different All-Star track in event history, following the Atlanta Motor Speedway and the Charlotte Motor Speedway. MBM Motorsports fielded two cars in the All-Star Open for the second time in team history, after running both Joey Gase and Timmy Hill in 2019 at Charlotte.

Timmy Hill, driver of the #66 Boathouse Bar & Grill / Oak'd Handcrafted BBQ Toyota Camry, finished on the lead lap in both of his two most recent Open appearances, both with MBM (2018 and 2019). This year, both MBM cars completed the Open on-track, but they each went one lap down to the leaders during the second of three stages in the 50-lap race. Hill, who was making his first Cup appearance since Talladega in April, started 21st. After several trades for position with his teammate, the Port Tobacco, Maryland native prevailed to reach the finish line in P17.

David Starr made his second Cup appearance in 2021, this week driving the #13 T-Top Manufacturing / Cantera Design Builders Toyota Camry. The All-Star Open was the fifth Cup event with MBM for the Houston, Texas native, and the first time MBM has put a second car on track since the season opening attempt to qualify into the Daytona 500. The 53-year-old battled with Hill several times throughout the event, but ultimately Starr came home just behind his MBM teammate, taking the checkered flag in P18.

MBM Motorsports will again run two Cup cars next week, as the NASCAR Cup Series takes on the concrete-surfaced Nashville Superspeedway for the first time.

►06/15/2021 - Xfinity Texas Results

The MBM Motorsports #66 team picked up another Top 20 result this week in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Alsco Uniforms 250 at Texas Motor Speedway.

For owner point purposes, the two MBM drivers from Mid-Ohio switched car numbers for the Texas race. David Starr, now in the #66 Whataburger Toyota Supra, started his home race from 31st based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. After surviving a loose handling condition in the early laps, the Houston, Texas native steadily worked his way through the field as the race progressed. He finished 32nd in Stage 1 and improved up to 25th by the conclusion of Stage 2. With chassis adjustments successfully improving the Whataburger machine late in the race, the 53-year-old had the opportunity to fight for a Top 20.

The #66 stayed on track when two late-race caution flags came out, eventually setting up NASCAR Overtime. On worn tires, Starr lost a position to #8 Josh Berry on the last lap, but skillfully held off #44 Tommy Joe Martins (margin +0.127 seconds) and #90 Ronnie Bassett Jr. (+0.440 seconds) to get the #66 car to the checkered flag in 20th place. That finish gives the MBM #66 its seventh Top 20 of the season, or 50% of the races so far, a statistic achieved with three different drivers. For Starr, now up to 23 Xfinity starts at Texas Motor Speedway beginning back in 2001, he has his sixth Top 20 at this track and third Top 20 of 2021 (previous: Talladega, Darlington).

Importantly, the race result moved the MBM #66 back in front of the B.J. McLeod Motorsports #78 team for P27 in the car owner point standings leaving Texas. Nashville Superspeedway is the next track on the Xfinity calendar, and with qualifying on the schedule, higher points positions are critical to have a chance to earn a points provisional.

With Starr in the #66, Matt Jaskol transitioned over to the #61. The Agoura Hills, California native made his fifth NASCAR Xfinity Series start, his fourth in the series on an oval, and his first on one of the classic 1.5-mile intermediate tracks. Jaskol rolled the #61 Auto Parts 4 Less Toyota Supra off the starting grid from 40th, already the third time he has had to start last this season due to the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric.

The 36-year-old took the opening two stages to build his confidence, steadily working up to speed. Jaskol survived all day through relatively heavy attrition, including catching the car in a sideways moment down in Turn 1. The MBM #61 crew made adjustments to the Auto Parts 4 Less machine trying to tighten the car up on corner entry, but also help the car turn better on throttle on corner exit. Ultimately, Jaskol made it to the checkered flag on a lap by himself, finishing P27 after earning the final free pass award of the race. 27th place is his Xfinity personal-best on an oval to date. The 10 points acquired by the #61 team at Texas were enough to surpass the SS Green Light Racing #07 in car owner points, returning the #61 car back inside the Top 36.

For the second consecutive week, the third MBM Motorsports entry, the #13 Toyota Supra, did not make the starting lineup, as set by the NASCAR rulebook. 42 teams entered the event, all of which are attempting to run the complete 33-race schedule. Starting lineups for the events without qualifying have 40 car field capacities, and the MBM #13 car entered the race 41st in car owner points, trailing the Means Racing #52 by 24 and the Jordan Anderson Racing #31 by 19. Leaving Texas, the #13 stands 25 and 22 points behind those two teams, respectively.

Qualifying is scheduled for the next race on the calendar at Nashville Superspeedway, where the Xfinity Series will return for the first time since 2011, one full decade ago.

►06/05/2021 - Xfinity Mid-Ohio Results

Matt Jaskol had his best NASCAR national series run so far, as he led the MBM Motorsports entries at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Follow Matt Jaskol on Twitter @MattJaskol.

After not racing at the 2.258-mile track in Lexington, Ohio due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NASCAR Xfinity Series returned to the circuit for the first time since 2019 with the running of the B&L Transport 170. NASCAR returned once more this week to starting races without practice or qualifying beforehand, which at Mid-Ohio allowed only two MBM Motorsports cars into the starting lineup.

Photo Credit: Johnny Jackson via Facebook.

Jaskol made his fourth NASCAR Xfinity Series start and first on a road course in the #66 Auto Parts 4 Less Toyota Supra. The 36-year-old started from 34th and improved his pace with each lap he ran. He broke into the Top 30 within the first 15 laps, and pit stop cycles enables the Agoura Hills, California native to pick up strong stage finishes. Jaskol took the green-and-white checkered flags in P20 to finish Stage 1 and P12 in Stage 2, the season-best Stage finish by any MBM Motorsports entry so far in 2021. P12 bettered the run by Timmy Hill at the Daytona Road Course, where he finished Stage 1 up in P13.

Jaskol kept the Auto Parts 4 Less machine on track all day, and his keeping the car clean paid off handsomely in the Overtime restart that extended the race beyond its scheduled 75 laps. He took the white flag in 23rd and advanced up to 19th on the last lap, his career-best in Xfinity competition. It is the sixth Top 20 run of the year for the #66 entry, though the first to come on a road course. Jaskol picked up his first lead lap finish in the series, while the #66 collected its sixth lead lap finish of 2021.

David Starr started his sixth Xfinity Series race at Mid-Ohio from 36th place, driving the #61 Rad Air Complete Car Care Toyota Supra. The Houston, Texas native was running in 32nd place on lap 14, just a couple of positions behind his teammate in the #66. Under green on lap 15, Starr radioed into his team that the car was stuck in gear. The MBM crew tried to service the car on pit road, but eventually had to go behind the wall to make repairs. They did return the #61 to the race, only for the car to get stuck in gear again.

The driver commented that the worst transition was downshifting from third to second gear. Team owner Carl Long encouraged Starr to be as smooth as possible with his shifting, and he provided suggestions on when to use and when not to use the clutch. The #61 team returned Starr to the race much more quickly this second time the car got stuck in gear, and Starr soldiered home to the checkered flag in 36th. The 53-year-old completed 66 of 78 possible laps and finished 36th.

The third MBM Motorsports entry, the #13 Toyota Supra, did not make the starting lineup, as set by the NASCAR rulebook. 42 teams entered the event, all of which are attempting to run the complete 33-race schedule. Starting lineups for the events without qualifying have 40 car field capacities, with the qualified cars determined by cars in the Top 30 in points, race winners in the current or prior year, eligible past champions, and then back to points and attempts to make up the balance of the grid. The MBM #13 car entered the race 40th in car owner points, trailing the Means Racing #52 by just four markers; however, the Jordan Anderson Racing #31, which entered the race 41st in owner points, had Josh Berry in the car for Mid-Ohio. Berry won the Cook Out 250 at Martinsville earlier this season, driving for JR Motorsports. That race win allowed the #31 car to qualify, consequently bumping the #13 car out of the race. Unable to start and earn any owner points, the #13 team fell to 41st based on the results of Mid-Ohio.

The next race on the schedule with qualifying will be held at Nashville Superspeedway, which follows the first trip of the season to Texas Motor Speedway next weekend.

►05/31/2021 - Cup Charlotte Oval Results

MBM Motorsports returned to the premier series for the longest race on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule, the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Memorial Day weekend.

For the first time in 2021, David Starr raced in the Cup event, making his 11th career start in the series, his fourth for MBM (first since the season finale at Homestead in 2017), and his first for any team since Martinsville in June 2020, when he ran for Rick Ware Racing. Starr attempted to pull double duty this weekend but failed to qualify for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race by a miniscule 8 thousandths of a second.

Follow MBM Motorsports on Twitter @MBMMotorsports.

This race weekend was the fourth of eight on the Cup series schedule this year scheduled to host practice and qualifying sessions prior to the race. Starr practiced the #66 Special Report with Bret Baier / Richardson Service 1991 Inc. Toyota Camry at a lap time of 32.164 seconds, completing 29 laps, and he qualified 38th best in single vehicle, single lap time trials.

The Houston, Texas native ran the #66 for the duration of the 600-mile event, despite dealing with an extremely tight handling condition on his racecar. The MBM crew made major adjustments on multiple pit stops, including adding packers, taking wedge out, and raising the track bar. Starr felt like the left front corner of the car was not providing the grip or turning capability he needed for a majority of the race.

The team was warned about meeting minimum speed once by NASCAR, requiring a green flag pit stop in the first half of Stage 2 for fresh tires and more adjustments. Starr completed 369 laps on the evening and took the checkered flag on track in 36th. MBM Motorsports has now competed in four Coca-Cola 600s, and the team has been running at the finish in all four.

►05/31/2021 - Xfinity Charlotte Oval Results

The twelfth NASCAR Xfinity Series event of the season took place at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the Alsco Uniforms 300 was one of the few events this season with scheduled practice and qualifying. Rain showers on Friday shortened Xfinity practice to less than the planned 50 minute session, causing a compression of time for teams to prepare for the on-track action on Saturday. Like at Circuit of the Americas the prior week, 43 teams arrived to battle for 36 starting positions. This week however, back on an oval, qualifying was conducted in the single vehicle, single lap format, making the stakes very high to put in a good speed.

For the first time since Atlanta in mid-March, Chad Finchum returned to drive the #13 MBM Motorsports Toyota Supra. The Knoxville, Tennessee native has been spotting for the majority of the season when he has not been behind the wheel, but the pressure ratcheted up in a big way at Charlotte, as the #13 car entered qualifying as a Go or Go Home entry. The 26-year-old was only 40th fastest in practice, and he needed to find about four tenths of a second relative to his competitors to break into the Top 31.

Follow Chad Finchum on Twitter @ChadFinchum.

By way of random draw, the #13 team drew P1 in the qualifying order, meaning Finchum would hit the track first of all Xfinity entries come time for qualifying. Heading out on to the speedway not knowing how much additional grip the track would have over practice from yesterday, Finchum ran a 30.525 second lap, an incredible 1.248 second pickup from his best practice lap the day before. To lock into the field on time, a driver needed to beat twelve competitors, so Finchum had to sit and wait for several cars to run before he knew if he would make the race or not. At last, once #17 Cody Ware, the 24th car on track, completed his run, Finchum and the #13 team were locked into the starting lineup on speed. They even outran two JR Motorsports entries: cars and drivers that are well-financed and championship contenders.

Already a banner day for Finchum, his race result took it to another level. Starting 22nd on the grid, a personal-best at this track when time trials were held, Finchum made light contact with #26 Grant Enfinger in Stage 1, as the two came together on the frontstretch. The MBM car was able to continue, and after losing a lap in Stage 2, the Tennessean worked himself into the free position and earned it back. A stroke of bad luck struck in Stage 3, when he had to make an unscheduled green flag pit stop that left him two laps down to the leaders. Caution flags helped though, and one wavearound and another free pass later, Finchum was back on the lead lap for the final 45 circuits.

Like and Follow Chad Finchum on Facebook @ChadFinchum.

After restarting 27th, the #13 advanced up to 22nd position under green. A spin by #99 Chase Briscoe brought out the next yellow flag, bunching the field back up, and a huge restart crash eliminated several contenders. Finchum drove well in the final laps to keep the car clean and get to the checkered flag in 15th place, besting five other drivers on the lead lap. In his 104th Xfinity start, Finchum picked up his fourth career Top 15, matched his best-ever result on an intermediate oval (P15 at Texas in 2019), and secured his 12th career lead lap finish. P15 is easily the best result for the #13 entry so far this season, improving over the epic run by David Starr at Homestead that ended up in P21.

Timmy Hill drove the #66 Coble Enterprises Toyota Supra on an eventful weekend. He practiced 33rd fastest for the second consecutive week, less than three hundredths of a second slower than the 31st fastest driver. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native went out 19th in the qualifying order, and entering Turn 3 on his timed lap, the right rear tire hit the track bar mount, cutting it down and sending Hill on a wild ride up the track. The veteran racer saved the car, but it left him slowest in the order, and the team had to wait out the runs of several more teams in the qualifying session before knowing if they would make the race. When the dust had settled, the #66 entry earned the fourth of five points provisionals, granting Hill a berth in the Alsco Uniforms 300.

The team changed the right rear tire prior to the race start and got Hill ready to run. The Coble Enterprises machine hit pit road several times in the early laps, but unfortunately the right rear issues persisted in the race. Hill cut down another right rear tire that necessitated a green flag pit stop, and then just before the team was planning to go behind the wall to make repairs to prevent another cut tire, the engine detonated on the #66. For the second consecutive race, Hill retired with engine failure. He completed 114 of 200 possible laps and finished 34th.

David Starr, who one week ago stepped aside to allow Boris Said to qualify the #13 car into the inaugural Xfinity race at Circuit of the Americas, returned to the #61 Whataburger Toyota Supra for Charlotte. On the same weekend he drove in his first Cup event of the season, Starr practiced the Whataburger machine 39th fastest, setting his best time on his ninth and final lap of the session. The Houston, Texas native needed to find almost exactly three tenths of a second relative to his competitors to qualify into the race on time.

Like and Follow MBM Motorsports on Facebook @MBMMotorsports.

The #61 team drew sixth in the qualifying order. Starr went out and timed in at 30.834 seconds, a 0.878 second improvement from practice. However, his valiant effort was to no avail. The 53-year-old finished the session in 32nd, a single spot shy of qualifying for the race on time. The size of the margin? Starr only needed another eight thousandths of a second, or 0.046 miles per hour, to beat #17 Cody Ware for the final position in the race on time. Sadly, the #61 team found themselves seventh in line for a points provisional of non-Top 31 cars, so for the second consecutive weekend, the #61 team failed to qualify into the race.

►05/31/2021 - Xfinity Circuit of the Americas Results

The NASCAR Xfinity Series made its inaugural visit to the 3.41-mile Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, competing on the same layout used by the Formula 1 Would Championship in the United States Grand Prix since 2012. With rain forcing the cancellation of qualifying for the season opening race at Daytona, the Pit Boss 250 at COTA was the first race of the year with qualifying to be held, meaning of the very strong 43 car entry list, only 36 could make the starting lineup. A team could lock themselves into the race by being among the fastest 31 cars in Round 1 of qualifying.

The Xfinity teams got a 50-minute practice on Friday afternoon, in bright sunshine and dry conditions. Qualifying went forward on Saturday morning in moderate rainfall and full wet track conditions. Come time for the race start, NASCAR had the teams roll off the starting grid on the treaded, wet weather tires, but with dry track conditions, every team changed to slick tires for the start. The race ran to completion without any further precipitation.

MBM Motorsports brought in a road course specialist to drive the #13 Whataburger Toyota Supra, which based on the car owner point standings, had to make the Top 31 in time trials in order to crack the starting field. 58-year-old Boris Said, a veteran of 54 NASCAR Cup Series races with two pole positions and two Top 5 finishes, returned to the seat of a stock car for the first time since 2017 and his first Xfinity race weekend since 2015. The Carlsbad, California native is an Xfinity race winner, taking victory at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal in 2010, as well as a two-time pole winner, and he holds seven series Top 5s.

Extensive international road racing experience for Said proved hugely valuable with the changing weather conditions from session to session. After practicing 22nd best on Friday, Said backed up his Top 25 time in qualifying with P24, setting a lap time of 2:45.971 and achieving a margin safe to the Top 31 by just over one second to lock himself into the starting field.

The Whataburger machine, however, had an unrepresentative race result. The #13 car lost power late in Stage 1 and came to a stop on the backstretch between Turns 11 and 12. Said received a push back to the pits, where the MBM crew had to go behind the wall to diagnose and repair a failed fuel pump. MBM got Said back on track for the final laps, and the group finished 35 of the possible 46 laps, taking the checkered flag on a lap by themselves in P31.

Timmy Hill, the veteran MBM Motorsports driver who has had mixed results in wet weather conditions, did an incredible job on Saturday morning. After practicing only 33rd fastest, the Port Tobacco, Maryland native bounced in and out of the Top 31 cars during the rain-soaked qualifying several times. Heading into his final run, Hill was on the outside looking in, but he managed to find speed at the very end of Round 1 to jump up to 28th quickest. His 2:46.229 made the race by 0.865 seconds, securing two spots in the Pit Boss 250 for MBM.

The #66 KW Commercial / CrashClaimsR.US Toyota Supra finished Stage 1 a strong P16 through pit strategy, but an engine failure in Stage 2 ruined his opportunity to compete for a top finish. Hill wound up 33rd with 29 laps completed before retiring.

Stephen Leicht, part-time driver and frequent spotter for MBM Motorsports, attempted to qualify for his second Xfinity race of the season in the #61 Jani-King Toyota Supra. The Asheville, North Carolina driver practiced 37th fastest on Friday and knew he had an uphill climb to face on Saturday. In what was arguably the most competitive field of Xfinity entries so far this season, the 34-year-old put forth a solid effort in the rainy qualifying, but his best time of a 2:49.060 fell short. He missed the Top 31 by just over 2.5 seconds, and the #61 car was tenth in line for a points provisional of non-Top 31 cars. With only five provisionals available, the #61 failed to qualify for the inaugural Xfinity race at COTA. It was the first DNQ for an MBM Xfinity car since the 2019 season finale, when Bobby Dale Earnhardt missed the Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead in the #66.

►05/16/2021 - Xfinity Dover Results

MBM Motorsports had a disappointing set of results in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Drydene 200, the lone series race at Dover International Speedway on the 2021 calendar. This was the ninth straight event to have no practice or qualifying scheduled going into the season, but on-track activity prior to the race will return in three of the next five Xfinity race weekends.

Timmy Hill had the best showing of the MBM entries, welcoming a first-time MBM sponsor aboard the #66 Alarm Tech Toyota Supra. Sister companies Alarm Tech Systems and Alarm Tech Suppression, both based in Berks County, Pennsylvania, came together to sponsor the Port Tobacco, Maryland native.

Follow Timmy Hill on Twitter @TimmyHillRacer.

Hill rolled off from 22nd position based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. The 28-year-old was generally pleased with the handling of his Toyota Supra, first saying his car was good on corner entry but tight from the center off, but as the competition caution neared, Hill said the track was building freer. At the Stage 1 green-and-white checkered, Hill ran 33rd, and by the end of Stage 2, he had progressed up to 26th.

Only one caution came out in Stage 3, and unfortunately it separated two very different performances from the #66 team. In the 43-lap green flag run to being the final stage, Hill moved forward in the field by ripping the top of the racetrack at both ends of the speedway. He ran 25th on lap 105, 23rd on lap 110, and passed his way up to 21st by lap 115. When the yellow flew at lap 139, Hill asked for no chassis adjustments, and the MBM crew pitted him for fresh tires. Shortly after the restart, Hill felt a severe vibration and thought he was dealing with a loose wheel. The team pitted for an unscheduled stop under green around lap 149 to address it, but there was no evidence the wheel was loose and the vibration remained. Hill, in his 19th Xfinity race at Dover, had to use all of that experience to keep the car underneath of him for the final laps. The MBM team will diagnose the issue once back at the shop, but early indications are that a rear wheel bearing may have been failing. With the vibration continually worsening, Hill did make it to the checkered flag on track, crossing the finish line in 30th place. The #66 team now holds 25th place in the car owner point standings and has been running at the finish of their last six starts.

Matt Jaskol made his third NASCAR Xfinity Series start at Dover from the 38th grid position. Back in the same chassis he debuted with in Martinsville, where he collected a strong 28th place result, Jaskol again used the early laps to learn a new track and work his way up to speed. The #13 AutoParts4Less.com Toyota Supra was handling well for him, slightly tight at both ends of the racetrack but a secure platform with which to gain experience. At the competition caution, the Agoura Hills, California driver ran in 37th.

The 36-year-old was prepared to start pushing the car a little bit more in Stage 2, but his race was ended prematurely. #78 Jesse Little of B.J. McLeod Motorsports spun coming off of Turn 2 in a wreck that also collected #92 Josh Williams of DGM Racing. Spotter and part-time MBM driver Stephen Leicht got on the radio to Jaskol, telling him to back the car down, which Jaskol did smoothly up against the outside retaining wall. Behind him, #07 Joe Graf Jr. of SS Green Light Racing did not get the same communication as quickly, and Graf Jr. hit the rear of Jaskol, spinning the Auto Parts 4 Less machine towards the inside retaining wall and the other wrecked racecars. The rear wheels of the #13 car climbed over the damaged front end of #78 Little, leaving Jaskol to come to rest pinned against the inside wall, still up in the air.

NASCAR had to display the red flag to collect the wrecked racecars. FOX Sports 1 did interview both #78 Little and #13 Jaskol, with both drivers expressing their disappointment to be out of the race early. The #13 team wound up 39th in the final rundown with 56 laps complete.

David Starr had Bret Baier, the chief political anchor of Fox News, riding aboard his car at Dover. The #61 Special Report with Bret Baier Toyota Supra, which also carried decals of the Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C. on the lower rear quarterpanels, started from 21st position. Immediately from the drop of the green flag, Starr felt a major handling problem with his car, dropping backwards in the field. The Houston, Texas native slowed on track even before the competition caution came out. Starr brought the car to the attention of his MBM crew on pit road first, and then shortly thereafter headed to the garage. Team owner Carl Long said over the radio that a water line blew out, probably putting water on his tires, which would explain the poor handling. With limited water remaining to cool the motor, the #61 rapidly overheated. Starr retired with 18 laps complete and finished a disappointing 40th.

Next up for the Xfinity Series is the eagerly anticipated inaugural NASCAR race weekend at Circuit of the Americas. All three national NASCAR series will be running over the course of the weekend, and all three series will have 50-minute practices and group qualifying sessions. For the Xfinity Series, since qualifying will be held, the maximum field capacity drops to 36, with 31 teams qualifying by speed and five owner point provisionals. This means the MBM #13 car will be in a Go or Go Home situation at COTA, since it is currently 40th in car owner points. The MBM #61 is also now at risk of missing the field at COTA, since they fell to 30th place in points with their motor issues in Dover.

►05/12/2021 - Xfinity Darlington Results Amended

The team that was originally disqualified from the NASCAR Xfinity Series Steakhouse Elite 200 at Darlington Raceway, the #9 JR Motorsports entry driven by Noah Gragson, appealed their post-race penalty and successfully overturned the disqualification. This returns the MBM cars to their original finishing positions on track: #61 David Starr will end up 17th, #66 Timmy Hill will finish 23rd, and #13 Matt Jaskol will be classified 34th.

►05/10/2021 - Xfinity Darlington Results

Overall, MBM Motorsports put together a successful run in the Steakhouse Elite 200 at Darlington Raceway. The NASCAR Xfinity Series returned from an off weekend to tackle one of the most intimidating oval tracks on the schedule: the 1.366-mile egg-shaped circuit in Darlington, South Carolina that requires running right up against the outside retaining wall to make speed. This event also served as the now traditional annual throwback weekend at Darlington, and all three MBM cars participated in the remembrance of racing entries from years past.

David Starr competed in the #61 Whataburger Toyota Supra, making his eighth series start at this track, including one in every season since 2014. The orange car with a black number 61 adorning the door paid tribute to Richie Evans, a nine-time NASCAR Modified Tour Champion who tragically lost his life in a practice crash at Martinsville in 1985. Evans was posthumously elected to the International Motorsport Hall of Fame at Talladega, Alabama in 1996 and inducted in the inaugural New England Auto Racers Hall of Fame in 1998 with numerous track championships, more than 475 feature race wins across 40 tracks, and nine-time NASCAR Modified Most Popular Driver, as voted by the fans. The "King" of modified racing was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in the class of 2012.

Like and Follow David Starr on Facebook @DavidStarrRacing.

The Houston, Texas native rolled off the grid from 17th based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric, a personal-best starting spot at this track (previous best: 22nd). The car was ill-handling in the early laps, but Starr kept his Whataburger machine on the lead lap for the entirety of the race, and the MBM crew made adjustments to improve the #61 Toyota with every pit stop. After finishing Stage 1 down in 35th, Starr had already recovered to P24 by the second green-and-white checkered flag on the day that signaled the conclusion of Stage 2.

Follow David Starr on Twitter @starr_racing.

By the lap 126 yellow, Starr had advanced up to 22nd. A rash of late-race cautions followed. Nine times during the race, the yellow was displayed, with the final of those setting up NASCAR Overtime. The 53-year-old arrived at the "Choose V" in 16th place, having stayed out on used tires. The veteran racer put his experience to good use, masterfully holding onto 17th position at the checkered flag despite the worn rubber. The disqualification of a rival driver promoted Starr up to 16th in the final classification, matching his season-best result from the last Xfinity event at Talladega. Starr beat his Xfinity personal-best at this track by six positions (22nd in 2015). He also now has consecutive lead lap finishes in the series for the first time since a four-race stretch in 2017 (Pocono, Michigan, Iowa, Daytona). Finally, Starr has broken into the Top 25 in the Xfinity driver point championship standings for the first time this season thanks to his run at Darlington.

With three consecutive results of 22nd or better, the MBM Motorsports #61 team has vaulted from 36th up to 26th in owner points. The #61 car has also now been running at the finish for the last eight consecutive races. That consistency and jump in points is huge for the team for both financial benefits and for provisional accessibility when qualifying returns later this month.

Timmy Hill, in order to compete in the Camping World Truck Series races for his own Hill Motorsports #56 team, had to switch his championship points designation from the Xfinity Series to Trucks, but he is still competing full-time in the #66 LiftKits4Less.com Ford Mustang. The #66 entry carried a throwback to a 2004 Busch Series entry by Rusty Wallace at Michigan International Speedway that shared the same car number. Wallace, a 55-time NASCAR Cup Series race winner and the 1989 premier series champion, was making his first series start in seven years at the time. In the class after Richie Evans, Rusty Wallace was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2013.

The Port Tobacco, Maryland native started from 15th, by far an Xfinity personal-best at this track (previous: 27th, three times), thanks to the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. Early in Stage 1, Hill was already reporting to his crew an unusual feeling in the steering of his car, which was eventually diagnosed as a failing steering box. It was not possible to repair that component in a timely fashion on pit road, so the 28-year-old had to put in a yeoman's effort to keep the car turning and running on the lead lap.

Follow Timmy Hill on Twitter @TimmyHillRacer.

The LiftKits4Less machine finished Stage 1 in P30 and Stage 2 in P28. Hill was running in 27th and still on the lead lap when the lap 126 yellow arrived that precipitated the series of late-race restarts. Like his teammate, Hill took the Overtime restart on used rubber and despite staying out, fell back to 27th again at the white flag, however, the veteran competitor drove back up to 23rd on the final lap. The previously mentioned disqualification moved the #66 up one more spot for a final result of P22.

Timmy Hill was the only MBM driver to avoid a Darlington stripe.

Hill recorded his fifth Xfinity Top 25 at Darlington from eight series starts, as well as his sixth series Top 25 through the first nine races of 2021. The MBM #66 remains an impressive P23 in the season-long car owner point standings, trailing the DGM Racing #92 but ahead of the Rick Ware Racing #17.

Matt Jaskol, who made his national NASCAR debut at Martinsville one month ago, returned to the seat of the #13 LiftKits4Less.com Toyota Supra for his second Xfinity event. His #13 entry paid tribute to African-American car owner Thee Dixon, whose Mansion Motorsports operation gave MBM team owner Carl Long his first six NASCAR Cup Series starts, and his 1991 Mansion Cup car. Mike Skinner started races with this colorful paint scheme at Rockingham and Charlotte that year, with a best finish of 32nd. Completing the throwback theme for the weekend, MBM towed Jaskol's ride to Darlington on an open-trailer, a staple of local racetracks and racing operations of days gone by.

Follow Matt Jaskol on Twitter @MattJaskol.

The Agoura Hills, California native started from 40th in the 40 car field and just like in his debut, took the green flag to start the race without a single lap of practice or qualifying at this circuit. Jaskol spent the opening laps learning the car, the track, and how to manage his pace, especially on corner entry. He reached 37th place by the competition caution and 32nd by the green-and-white checkered flag to end Stage 1, still on the lead lap. Jaskol had been fairly pleased with the handling of the #13 Toyota in the early laps, but he felt a tight condition developing as Stage 1 progressed, especially in Turns 3 and 4.

Like and Follow MBM Motorsports on Facebook @MBMMotorsports.

Jaskol lost a lap during the green flag run to begin Stage 2, which turned out to be the longest such stretch of the day. After the fifth caution flag, the 36-year-old was in position to battle #74 Bayley Currey for the free pass, but trouble stuck. A car in front of Jaskol got sideways, and when the driver of the LiftKits4Less.com car tried to make an evasive maneuver, he ended up making contact with the outside retaining wall. This wreck caused damage to the right front corner of the car and likely knocked the toe out of alignment. Jaskol limped around on track to complete Stage 2 before heading to pit road for repairs. The #13 car soldiered home and completed 142 out of 148 possible laps. Jaskol took the checkered flag in 34th, on the same lap as #47 Kyle Weatherman. After the disqualification of a competitor in post-race technical inspection, Jaskol finished his second Xfinity race in 33rd place.

►04/29/2021 - Cup Talladega Results

MBM Motorsports returned to the NASCAR Cup Series circuit for the first time since Bristol Dirt with the running of the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Timmy Hill started the #66 Supreme Transportation Group Ford Mustang from 40th position, with the lineup determined by the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. Supreme Transportation Group adorned the quarterpanels of both Hill's Cup and Xfinity cars at Atlanta in March, but the 2.66-mile superspeedway race was the first primary NASCAR sponsorship for the organization. Supreme is a certified Minority Business Enterprise that provides freight transportation solutions to customers.

Hill kept his #66 Ford on the lead lap through Stage 1, taking the green-and-white checkered flag in 32nd. In the long green flag stretch to begin Stage 2, the field made pit stops. MBM pitted Hill for fuel only, but in the sequence, the Supreme machine lost contact with the lead draft. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native fell one lap down around lap 101, and then took the wavearound under the caution to conclude Stage 2 to get back on the lead lap. Hill raced inside the Top 30 for nearly the entire green flag run to being Stage 3, up until his required pit stop for fuel on lap 151.

Follow MBM Motorsports on Twitter @MBMMotorsports.

Leaving pit road under green, the car failed to accelerate. The driver reported back to his MBM crew that the car had no fuel pressure. Hill power cycled the #66, resetting the electronic control unit, and got going again, but the lost time left him one lap down to the leaders once again after the full field made their pit stops. No wavearound opportunities presented themselves late in the race, leaving the team one lap back when the checkered flag flew. Hill ended up in the 29th finishing position, matching his Daytona Road Course finish for best MBM Cup result of the season.

The remaining MBM Motorsports Cup schedule remains dependent on sponsorship. Pending any new deals coming together, the next MBM Cup race is expected to be in May when all three major national NASCAR divisions travel to Austin, Texas to compete for the first-time at Circuit of the Americas.

►04/29/2021 - Xfinity Talladega Results

Two of the three MBM Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series entries came away from the abbreviated Ag-Pro 300 at Talladega Superspeedway with great results, while the third showed great promise early on but retired with mechanical issues.

Timmy Hill began his eighth Xfinity race at this track from the 27th position. The #66 AutoParts4Less.com Ford Mustang ran inside the Top 25 early on before dropping back to 29th by the end of Stage 1. The 28-year-old quickly recovered to fight for a position inside the Top 20, taking the green-and-white checkered flag of Stage 2 up in 20th with a teammate immediately behind. In Stage 3, the MBM #66 team pitted under green at lap 71, and then chose to stay out under the third caution flag of the race.

The next green flag stretch would be the final run of the day. By lap 81, Hill had advanced up to 14th. He gained additional spots on laps 83 and 84, reaching 12th place under green. On lap 86, a multi-car incident broke out just behind Hill exiting Turn 2 and down the backstretch. Under that yellow flag, heavy precipitation arrived at the track. With limited remaining daylight and no circuit lighting in place, NASCAR called the race with 90 of 113 scheduled laps complete. After reviewing the running order when the fourth and final caution flag came out, Hill ended up 13th in the rundown, scoring his best Xfinity result of the season and already fifth Top 20 in eight races. The Port Tobacco, Maryland driver is 21st in driver points leaving Talladega and the MBM Motorsports #66 entry is 23rd in the owner points. P23 is the highest points position by an MBM car through eight races of a NASCAR Xfinity Series season in organization history (previous-best: 25th, twice, 2019 and 2020).

Likewise, David Starr earned a well-deserved result in the #61 Whataburger Toyota Supra. From 26th on the starting grid, the Houston, Texas driver completed Stage 1 still in 26th. In Stage 2, Starr battled well inside the Top 25 and completed that segment of the race in 21st place. The MBM #61 team made their Stage 3 green flag pit stop one lap prior to Hill, stopping on lap 70. When the third yellow flag flew on lap 76, Starr returned to pit road for another splash of fuel, setting him up comfortably to reach the scheduled distance and preparing for the possibility of an Overtime finish without needing to stop again.

This was the eighth Xfinity start for Starr at Talladega and his 215th in the series overall, and the driver had to put all of his experience to use at the end of the final green flag run of the race. The late-race, multi-car crash occurred immediately in front of the Whataburger machine. Starr masterfully dodged the carnage, avoiding collisions with #19 Brandon Jones and #54 Ty Dillon, among others, to keep his racecar clean and advance all the way up to P16 by the red flag for rain. That result is the best of the season for Starr (by five positions), the best for the #61 team in 2021 (by six positions), and the first Top 20 of the season for both. Add this result to a strong performance at Martinsville, and in just the last two races, the MBM #61 team has vaulted up eight positions in the car owner points standings, improving from 36th up to 28th.

The same driver and sponsorship duo that returned after a long hiatus to score a Top 10 finish for the #23 Xfinity team at the season-opener in Daytona moved over to the MBM #13 team for Talladega. Richmond, Virginia native Jason White, a 41-year-old with 210 NASCAR national touring series starts to his credit entering Talladega, found his greatest stock car success in the Truck Series, scoring one pole position, nine Top 5s, 21 Top 10s, and more than 240 laps led. His career-best Xfinity result from 52 starts was an 8th place at this track, Talladega, in 2013 driving for SR2 Motorsports. Entering 2021, White last raced in both the Truck and Xfinity Series in 2014, but his Daytona success demonstrated and reminded the NASCAR community of his capability.

The #13 A-Game Ford Mustang started from 40th based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. White moved into the Top 30 by lap 10 and the Top 25 by lap 15, giving MBM Motorsports a run with all three cars inside the Top 25. White even scored the best MBM Stage 1 finish on the day, taking the green-and-white checkered in 22nd, a Stage 1-best for the #13 team through eight races this year. White stayed on track for the first lap with the pits open under the Stage 1 yellow, lap 27, picking up his first lap led in Xfinity in a series career that dates back to 1999.

Follow MBM Motorsports on Twitter @MBMMotorsports.

After pitting on the next lap for fresh tires and fuel, White restarted outside the Top 30 but worked forward again, reaching P28 by lap 40 and P24 by lap 41, again giving MBM all three cars inside the Top 25. His race started to unravel quickly on lap 48, when White radioed to his crew that he believed he had a tire going down. He kept the #13 car on track at a reduced pace to end the stage, not yet losing a lap to the leaders. As soon as the field had been gathered up by the pace car, the #13 team hit pit road and raised the hood, looking in the left front corner of the car. Team owner Carl Long was heard over the radio stating that "the entire left front wheel bearing is gone." The suspension issue forced White to retire from the race prematurely and collect an unrepresentative 39th place finish with 51 laps complete.

►04/12/2021 - Xfinity Martinsville Results

For just the third time in the last 25 years, the NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers and teams battled at the 0.526-mile Martinsville Speedway in southern Virginia. MBM Motorsports scored a lead lap, 17th place finish at this track in 2020, but the finish was their only result of three entries inside the Top 30. In the first of two 2021 trips to "The Paper Clip," MBM got all three cars to the finish inside the Top 30.

The full race took three days to complete due to rain up-and-down the East Coast early in the weekend. After a short delay to the race start to finish track drying, the Cook Out 250 began Friday evening, and the field completed 91 laps of racing before heavier rain arrived. NASCAR postponed the conclusion of the event until Sunday at Noon, a rare multi-day postponement due to the tight confines of the Martinsville infield, limited space for hauler parking, team personnel logistics concerns, and continuing COVID-19 protocols. At the resumption of the race on Sunday under bright sunshine and different ambient conditions, all three MBM cars fired off tight, requiring chassis adjustments to correct handling concerns as the race continued.

Follow David Starr on Twitter @starr_racing.

David Starr, who scored his fourth and final NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory at Martinsville in 2006, started the #61 Eden Jewelry / Helluva Ranch Toyota Supra from 34th place. Still carrying the Whataburger-orange colors aboard the #61, Starr advanced himself up to 26th by the lap 25 competition caution. At the fourth yellow, the Houston, Texas native pitted for fresh right-side tires, which put him back to 33rd by the end of Stage 1, but Starr had recovered back up to 28th by the time the red flag came out for moisture.

On Sunday, after a few pit stops for competitors, Starr took the restart in 24th, but quickly dropped backwards with an ill-handling car. He stayed on the lead lap through Stage 2, and after the MBM crew were able to make some chassis adjustments, he began working his way back through the field. The #61 team gambled at the lap 176 yellow flag, staying out on the track and taking the restart up in 4th place. Starr kept his car on the lead lap all race up until the final five laps, overtaking #74 Bayley Currey on lap 229 for P22, where he remained until the checkered flag. It marked the best finish for the MBM #61 team so far in 2021, a group that is now seven-for-seven in Top 30 results this season. The finish promoted the #61 car up three positions, to 33rd, in the team owner point standings. Starr recorded his second Xfinity Top 25 of the year, backing up his strong Homestead drive from February.

Matt Jaskol, a 36-year-old driving instructor, made his return to major professional motor racing for the first time in 14 years at Martinsville. Jaskol had early career success in karting and reached as high as the Indy Pro Series (now Indy Lights, one category below the IndyCar Series) on the open-wheel racing ladder. The Agoura Hills, California native made five starts, earning a best finish of 7th (twice), including in the Freedom 100 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Outside of motorsports, reality television show fans may be familiar with Jaskol for his participation in the ABC's 2018 show "Castaways," in which he was one of five contestants to survive all 41 days in a remote Indonesian jungle before being rescued.

Follow Christopher Davenport on Twitter @AP4Less.

Jaskol began his NASCAR national series career in the #13 AutoParts4Less.com Toyota Supra from the 40th starting spot. With no on-track activity prior to the start of the race, the learning curve was enormous for Jaskol in race conditions, but he improved and gained experienced with every lap. He made a tremendous save entering Turn 3 early in the race when #16 A.J. Allmendinger turned left across traffic trying to enter pit road. Jaskol fought a tight racecar on Friday night and stood P38, one lap back of the leaders at the lap 92 red flag.

The #13 team earned the free pass at the lap 140 caution flag, restoring Jaskol to the lead lap. The MBM team had previously made a packer adjustment to improve his tight-handling racecar, and with his improved pace, the group decided to follow the #61 team and stay out at the lap 176 yellow, enabling Jaskol to run inside the Top 10 in his very first Xfinity Series race. He took the restart up in P6.

Visit Auto Parts 4 Less at AutoParts4Less.com.

Staying out allowed the team to save a set of fresh tires, which Jaskol had the opportunity to pit for at the 12th and final caution flag of the race while still on the lead lap in his series debut. Unfortunately, the tire change cost the Auto Parts 4 Less machine a lap under yellow. Despite the setback, Jaskol still managed to complete 248 of the possible 250 racing laps and brought the #13 car home in P28. It was the fourth Top 30 for the #13 group in 2021 so far and their second-best result on the season. Jaskol will attempt at least three more Xfinity races this year with MBM, and the possibility for additional events to be added to his schedule remains.

Full-time MBM Xfinity competitor Timmy Hill had a similar color palette to the #13 car aboard his #66 LiftKits4Less.com Toyota Supra. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native rolled from the starting grid in 20th place and raced around that position through the first 50 laps of the event. The MBM #66 team pitted Hill for tires at the fourth caution, and despite a Stage 1 finish of 31st, with the pit stop cycle Hill took the lap 68 restart back up in 19th place. His race took an unfortunate turn near lap 73 when the 28-year-old radioed in that he lost power and was down a cylinder. The team hoped it was a plug wire issue, but even despite the multi-day delay, NASCAR rules prevent teams from working on the cars under red flag conditions.

The #66 team sat in 37th under the lap 92 red flag but with the free pass award coming as soon as the race resumed. Hill managed to survive the entirety of the rest of the race on seven cylinders, as the engine issue could not be confirmed and resolved during the event without losing several laps. Even with being severely underpowered, Hill got the Lift Kits 4 Less car home in 30th position, recording the fifth Top 30 for the #66 team in seven races. The group lost one position in the Xfinity owner point standings, now holding onto 26th place in points.

►03/29/2021 - Cup Bristol Dirt Results

43-year-old dirt-track specialist Mike Marlar made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in the rain-postponed Food City Dirt Race at the Bristol Motor Speedway. For the first time in 51 years, the premier division of NASCAR raced on a dirt track: this time with the traditionally 0.533-mile concrete oval at Bristol converted into a temporary dirt circuit.

Marlar, the 2018 World of Outlaws Late Model Series Champion, broke on to the NASCAR scene in the 2019 Truck Series event at Eldora Speedway, the final Truck race sanctioned at that track to date. Driving the Reaume Brothers Racing #33, Marlar started from 23rd position, earned 8th place points for the team in Stage 2, and battled around the Top 5 for the entirety of Stage 3. He eventually took the checkered flag in 4th place and achieved the best result for that team in program history.

The Winfield, Tennessee native has also previously raced with MBM Motorsports, making his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Richmond in September of 2019. His race that day came to a premature conclusion with an early incident on the backstraightaway. Fast forward to 2021, and not only did Marlar attempt his first Cup race with MBM on the Bristol Dirt, he pulled NASCAR double duty for the first-time, also piloting the Hill Motorsports #56 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event.

This seventh event of the 2021 Cup Series season was to be the second in which NASCAR has sanctioned practice and qualifying prior to the race. Marlar completed 45 laps in Practice 1 and 49 laps in Practice 2, picking up a quarter of a second in his best lap time between the two sessions. Both practices took place on Friday afternoon, and four qualifying heat races were scheduled for Saturday to set the starting lineup. By way of random draw, Marlar was scheduled to start the 10-car Heat Race #2 from P2, but the opportunity did not materialize. Unfortunately, heavy rain pounded the Bristol, Tennessee area on both Saturday and Sunday. NASCAR cancelled all four Cup heat races, reverting to setting the starting lineup by the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric and postponing the 250-lap Cup feature race until Monday.

Marlar rolled the #66 Lift Kits 4 Less Toyota Camry from the starting grid in 38th position. By lap 14, he advanced up to 35th place and settled into that position for the majority of the opening stint. The driver reported back to his MBM crew that the car was "really, really loose on entry" and remained loose throughout his off-throttle time. By the third caution flag of the race, Marlar had moved up to P32 and earned the free pass award, restoring him to the lead lap. The #66 team pitted for a quick track bar adjustment before the field went back green for the remainder of Stage 1. Marlar took the green-and-white checkered flag in 29th.

MBM was locked in a battle with #53 J.J. Yeley of Rick Ware Racing for much of Stage 2. Crucially, Marlar beat Yeley in the 17-lap green flag stint beginning at lap 170, as the two drivers were dueling for the free pass award should another caution flag come out. A timely caution did arrive, and with a second consecutive free pass earned at the Stage 2 conclusion, Marlar ran in 28th and was restored to the lead lap for the beginning of the third and final stage.

Visit Auto Parts 4 Less at AutoParts4Less.com.

A flat tire for #23 Bubba Wallace early in Stage 3 promoted the #66 group to P27, and Marlar was working on keeping up with #00 Quin Houff in the late laps. Trouble stuck with just four laps remaining in the race, as the #66 cut down a right rear tire. The flat spun Marlar into the inside wall, and NASCAR placed the team in the Damaged Vehicle Policy. One of the DVP stipulations requires damage repairs to be completed on pit road: any DVP car that goes to the garage is retired from the race. Marlar drove his Lift Kits 4 Less machine behind the wall, ending his day just a few laps shy of the checkered flag. He ended up 31st in the final rundown for his Cup debut, following up his P28 in the Hill Motorsports #56 truck earlier in the day. The Cup result is the second premier series Top 35 for the MBM Motorsports program so far this season.

►03/21/2021 - Cup Atlanta Results

MBM Motorsports started its second NASCAR Cup Series race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, with Timmy Hill driving the #66 Supreme Transportation Group Toyota Camry. For the fifth straight event, NASCAR did not sanction practice or qualifying prior to the race. The #66 team lined up 38th on the grid as set by the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric.

Photo Credit: Johnny Jackson via Facebook.

It took four attempts to get the #66 car through pre-race technical inspection this week, as the MBM crew worked to get the rear toe and camber adjusted within the tolerances set by NASCAR. Three inspection failures required Hill to serve a drive-through penalty at the end of the first lap of the race, and the car chief of the #66, Sebastian LaForge, was ejected from the event.

Like and Follow MBM Motorsports on Facebook @MBMMotorsports.

Crew chief Clinton Cram worked on dialing some more rear security into the car for Hill, who fought a loose racecar in Stage 1. The car handled better in Stage 2, but then as the cloud cover overhead increased, the car leaned to the free side again. Further chassis adjustments were made in Stage 3 to compensate. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native ran much of the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 on a lap by himself, taking advantage of the limited attrition to collect a 36th place finish with 305 laps complete. P36 does better MBM's one previous Cup result here, a 39th place from 2020.

►03/21/2021 - Xfinity Atlanta Results

The sixth race of the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series season took place at the 1.54-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway. MBM Motorsports had three good handling racecars in the Echo Park 250, but two got mild damage in an incident at the end of Stage 1. Despite this, one of the teams secured a Top 20 result, which now gives the MBM Xfinity group at least one Top 25 finish on every active series track the team has run so far.

Timmy Hill started the #66 Supreme Transportation Group Toyota Supra from P17 based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric and his Top 15 finish last time out in Phoenix. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native, in his 220th Xfinity Series race, came over the radio before the end of lap 3 to say his car was driving very well, and he raced inside the Top 20 for the entirety of Stage 1, at least until the final lap. In a one lap shootout to finish the stage, #19 Brandon Jones got turned sideways on the backstretch, triggering a multi-car incident. Hill made contact with the outside retaining wall in avoidance, just sneaking past the #19 car to its outside.

Photo Credit: Michael McCarroll via Facebook.

The #66 car had been building to the free side handling-wise, but after sustaining that damage at the end of Stage 1, Hill fought a tight condition in Stage 2 and dealt with the splitter rubbing the track on low air pressure. He took the second green-and-white checkered flag of the day in P28, one lap back of the leaders, but was able to secure the free pass award at the sixth caution flag. The 28-year-old returned to the lead lap and never relinquished it, taking the final restart of the race in 22nd and advancing up to 20th by the checkered flag. It was an Xfinity Series personal-best for Hill at this track by eight positions (P28 in 2019) and a team-best for MBM at Atlanta (P26 in 2019 by Chad Finchum). The result is the fourth Top 20 in just six races for Hill and team #66, with the Atlanta P20 elevating them to 25th position in the car owner point standings.

David Starr remained in the #61 Whataburger Toyota Supra for the second consecutive race weekend. After starting from 38th, the Houston, Texas native ran in 35th by the competition caution and took the restart for the one-lap Stage 1 shootout in P25, however, he too received damage in the multi-car crash. Starr and #99 Mason Massey made slight contact on the apron in Turn 3, but the biggest damage came when the spinning #02 car of Brett Moffitt impacted the right rear of the Whataburger machine, knocking loose the rear bumper cover of the car.

The MBM #61 team went to work on pit road to repair the damage, returning Starr to the race still on the lead lap. The 53-year-old finished Stage 2 in P32, one lap down to the leaders. Starr asked to be tightened up on his pit stop. He had just gone a second lap down when the fifth yellow flag came out, so the #61 team took advantage of a wavearound opportunity. Starr completed the race in 27th position, a solid finish given the crash damage from Stage 1. The #61 team has finished all six races so far this season inside the Top 30.

Chad Finchum returned to a race seat this week in the #13 LasVegas.net Toyota Supra. The Knoxville, Tennessee native started his fourth series race at Atlanta from the 40th position and was exceptionally pleased with the handling of his machine, calling it the best car he has had to date at this track. Finchum jumped up to 32nd in the first ten laps of the event, demonstrating the speed in his racecar. Unfortunately, his day was cut short after 59 laps with brake trouble. The 26-year-old wound up 39th in the finishing order.

►03/15/2021 - Cup Phoenix Results

The sixth start for the MBM Motorsports Cup program at Phoenix Raceway came to an early conclusion Sunday afternoon in the Instacart 500. Timmy Hill, running his ninth NASCAR Cup Series race at this track, started the #66 Diamondback Land Surveying / LasVegas.net Toyota Camry from 37th on the grid. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native ran 38th in the opening laps of the race, before overtaking #53 Garrett Smithley on lap 10 to advance to 37th.

Just five laps later, Hill came over the team radio very suddenly and reported the #66 Toyota was down a cylinder. Crew chief Clinton Cram directed the 28-year-old to the garage, where the crew went to work under the hood. Unfortunately, the engine issue proved terminal, and Hill retired from the event with just 15 laps complete. He finished 38th.

►03/15/2021 - Xfinity Phoenix Results

All three MBM Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series teams reached the checkered flag on track at Phoenix Raceway, with one of those cars recording the best finish at the Avondale, Arizona track in organization history.

Timmy Hill started the Call 811 Before You Dig 200 from 39th based on the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric. Driving the #66 Interstate Batteries / Angry Crab Shack Toyota Supra, Hill raced into the Top 30 within the first 12 laps of the event despite being loose from the center of the corner through to corner exit. The MBM crew pitted him for adjustments at the competition caution and by mid-race had the car well-balanced. He ran inside the Top 25 in early Stage 3, but under the seventh caution, the team had only used tires to put on the car. Hill struggled badly on that set, so he pitted again under the ninth caution for a different set of used tires. The same problem persisted.

Photo Credit: Johnny Jackson via Facebook.

Team owner Carl Long scrambled up and down pit road and managed to successfully acquire two sticker tires each from two different teams who had previously retired from the race. At long last, Hill got fresh rubber under the tenth yellow flag of the day. Restarting 27th, the Port Tobacco, Maryland native drove into the Top 20 in less than 20 circuits with a pass on #15 Colby Howard on lap 189. The eleventh and final caution flag of the race came out shortly thereafter, setting up a green-white-checkered finish. Hill came to the choose box in 20th place, and masterfully maneuvered through the late-race restart chaos to earn a huge 14th place finish, the best result by an MBM Motorsports car in 2021 so far. It is the 14th Top 15 for Hill in his Xfinity career and a personal-best result at Phoenix. Through five races, the #66 team has already picked up three Top 20 finishes. The P14 finish also vaulted the #66 from 34th to 26th in the car owner points standings.

David Starr slid over to the #61 team this week, helping fulfill the requirement to run that number as a Toyota due to MBM's ongoing relationship with Hattori Racing Enterprises. The Houston, Texas native started the #61 Whataburger Toyota Supra from 37th and had already picked up six spots by the competition caution. Starr was happy with the balance of his car throughout the majority of the event, just asking for a little bit of forward bite on corner exit, particularly in Turn 2. His strongest race pace by far was achieved when running in the outside lane, up in the PJ1 TrackBite traction compound that NASCAR added to the track surface in an attempt to promote side-by-side racing. After collecting two Top 30 stage finishes, Starr remained on the lead lap and was very much in the fight for a Top 25 finish, passing #4 Landon Cassill for 26th on lap 175. His day soured rapidly on lap 181 when the #61 car dropped down to seven cylinders. All the gauges read normal values, so Starr stayed on track and limped home to a respectable 28th place finish. The motor issue cost Starr his second lead lap finish of the season and the opportunity to make up crucial positions on the green-white-checkered. The #61 car now stands 36th in the owner point standings.

The #13 entry at Phoenix was run in collaboration with Reaume Brothers Racing. Dutch driver Loris Hezemans made his NASCAR Xfinity Series oval debut aboard this car, the #13 Hezeberg Systems Chevrolet Camaro. Hezemans, a 23-year-old from Eindhoven in the Netherlands, competed full-time in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series in 2018 and 2019, racking up five wins and twelve podiums in his 25 series starts. He did have one previous Xfinity Series start prior to the race in Phoenix: in 2019, he drove at Road America for B.J. McLeod Motorsports, finishing on the lead lap in 22nd. In addition to the race in Phoenix, Hezemans and the Reaume Brothers team are expected to again join up with MBM in a similar partnership at the Charlotte oval in May.

Photo Credit: Wolfgang Karl Koepp via Facebook.

Hezemans started 40th and paced himself getting up to speed, having not had any on-track practice time in an Xfinity car on an oval prior to the drop of the green flag to begin the race. He finished Stage 1 in 38th and Stage 2 in 36th, gaining experience and providing feedback to the team on adjustments he needed to pick up speed. The car had a big push on corner entry, understeering through the center of the corner. Chassis adjustments over the race improved the handling, and Hezemans took advantage of some attrition to reach 31st place by the checkered of his Xfinity oval debut. The #13 team has completed the last three races on track, running at the finish.

After three weekends in Florida to begin the 2021 season, the NASCAR Cup Series headed west, commencing the fourth race of the season at the 1.5-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Timmy Hill started the #66 Diamondback Land Surveying / LasVegas.net Toyota Camry from 38th in the Pennzoil 400. The car started the race with a loose handling condition, and despite a plethora of adjustments made to the car by the MBM Motorsports crew, the car remained that way deep into the event. By the early portion of Stage 3, the handling had finally begun to improve for the Port Tobacco, Maryland native.

Two green flag pit stops in particular proved costly for the MBM team. During Stage 2, the jack used to lift the car during tire changes failed, necessitating the crew to use a second jack to complete the stop. Then in Stage 3, after completing their scheduled green flag pit stop, Hill reported that he felt a loose wheel. The #66 team had to make an additional stop to secure what turned out to be the left rear wheel. The 28-year-old got his Toyota to the finish in 36th position, which is his second-best Cup finish at Las Vegas in seven starts.

►03/06/2021 - Xfinity Las Vegas Results

While two of the three MBM Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series teams showed strong pace in Stage 1 of the Alsco Uniforms 300 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, mechanical trouble and an ill-timed late caution hurt their finishing positions.

Chad Finchum returned to the seat of the #61 LasVegas.net Toyota Supra for his seventh Xfinity race at Las Vegas. The Knoxville, Tennessee native started from 29th position and advanced into the Top 25 by the end of lap 2. The #61 team chose to pit under the first caution flag of the race to check the tire wear, leaving them in 38th place for the restart. Finchum drove back up to 27th by the end of Stage 1, taking the green-and-white checkered flag as the highest placed MBM car. He spent much of Stage 2 inside the Top 25, with his handling just a bit tight in the center of the corners but an overall well-balanced car. Stage 3 proved to be much more difficult, as Finchum felt the motor was underperforming at high RPMs, and his spotter agreed they were losing time in the second half of the straightaway, especially compared to their earlier pace. Following the green flag pit stop cycle in Stage 3, the #61 ran in 30th place. The seventh caution flag of the race flew at an inopportune time, as most of the cars two laps back of the leaders were able to take advantage of a wavearound opportunity. However, the #61 ran behind #54 Ty Dillon under the yellow, a lead lap car who chose to stay out, preventing the #61 from getting a lap back. Finchum ended his race in 28th position, picking up his fourth Top 30 at this track.

Follow MBM Motorsports on Twitter @MBMMotorsports.

David Starr improved his pace in the #13 T-Top Manufacturing / Cantera Design Builders Ford Mustang as the race progressed. The Houston, Texas native rolled from the 28th grid position but ran near the back in the early laps, as the driver got more comfortable with what he felt was an unusual throttle response. After finishing Stage 2 in P32, Starr began moving forward in Stage 3, as he reached P28 by lap 120 and ran in 26th by the time the green flag pit stop cycle began. He briefly ran P25 when the pit stops had finished. However, when the seventh caution came out, Starr also could not take the wavearound, as he had to pit for fuel to get the finish. The team put fresh tires on again, but they were almost immediately flat-spotted when in the chain reaction to an incident between #02 Brett Moffitt and #54 Ty Dillon, the #13 car got hit from behind and turned. Fortunately, Starr avoided any wall contact, but the team had to put used tires back on the car to get to the finish of the race. The 53-year-old came within 0.075 seconds of overtaking Finchum on the last lap, but he came up just short and had to settle for P29 in his ninth Xfinity start at this track.

The #66 CrashClaimsR.US / LasVegas.net Toyota Supra ran strong in the early going but was plagued by mechanical woes. Timmy Hill started his eighth Xfinity race at Las Vegas in 18th and ran inside the Top 25 in the opening laps. Late in Stage 1, a power steering problem developed on the #66 machine. The MBM crew discovered the car was leaking power steering fluid, so they replenished it under the third caution flag of the event. As the field took the green to begin lap 63, Hill restarted from 35th and within ten laps had charged up into the Top 25 again. Then on lap 83, while running in 24th, the 28-year-old came over the radio and said the engine was "sputtering… we're down a cylinder for sure." Hill got the car to the Stage 2 green-and-white checkered flag still on the lead lap. Under yellow, the MBM crew went under the hood to check all of the plug wires but were unable to resolve the issue on pit road. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native took the green flag to begin Stage 3 on track but shortly thereafter had smoke in the cockpit and smelled oil burning. The #66 retired with exactly half of the race-distance complete, 100 of 200 laps, finishing 37th.

►03/01/2021 - Cup Homestead Results

MBM Motorsports debuted a new car at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in the Dixie Vodka 400, the first event of the season the NASCAR Cup Series contested on a non-drafting oval. Through the NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric, Timmy Hill earned the 33rd starting position for the third Cup race of 2021. The #66 MBM Motorsports Toyota hit pit road in the first ten laps of the race for adjustments, with reports of the splitter dragging the racetrack and the natural tire pressure rise proving insufficient to raise the car enough to continue without stopping. After a packer adjustment, Hill returned to the race in 37th, ahead of #78 B.J. McLeod, who had also made an early trip to pit road.

On lap 21 of the race, the engine in the #66 stumbled badly in Turns 1 and 2. Hill coasted back to his pit box, where the MBM crew went under the hood for precautionary checks. The driver reported his dashboard gauges showed zero water pressure. He drove back onto the track as the lap 25 competition caution came out, but then headed to the garage area, where the team could further diagnose the issue using feedback from the electronic control unit. After hooking up the computer to the ECU, the team discovered near zero fuel pressure. These electrical issues were not able to be resolved quickly enough to return to the race, so Hill retired with 21 laps complete. The #66 finished 38th.

►03/01/2021 - Xfinity Homestead Results

The MBM Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series program earned just its third triple Top 25 and fourth triple lead lap result in team history in the Contender Boats 250 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, with one of its cars at the center of attention in a race-defining incident.

Port Tobacco, Maryland native Timmy Hill was not that driver, as he piloted the #66 CrashClaimsR.US Toyota Supra. Hill started from 33rd and vaulted up six positions by the end of the opening lap, entering the Top 25 on lap 14. While a bit tight on entry, the #66 team showed strong pace, running just outside the Top 20 early in Stage 2. Caution number five of the race came out on lap 98, about eleven green flag laps into Stage 3. Hill and his team decided to pit for fresh rubber, which would have worked brilliantly if the race had then seen a long green flag run. However, caution number six came out after just eight more green flag laps. This left Hill on old tires relative to several of his direct competitors, and he faded from P21 to P28 over the 50-lap green flag run that followed. However, a late race caution enabled a wavearound opportunity for Hill back to the lead lap, and he masterfully moved through the field in the late race restarts. The 28-year-old took the final restart in P22 and took the checkered flag up in P17. The disqualification of a competitor in post-race technical inspection elevated Hill to P16, improving over his personal-best Xfinity finish at this track by five positions (2011). 16th place also secured valuable owner points for the #66 team, who jumped from 31st up to 27th in the standings.

David Starr returned for his second Xfinity start with MBM in the #13 Whataburger Toyota Supra. Like the prior week at the Daytona Road Course, Starr started 40th, but this event had a drastically different emotional roller coaster. The Houston, Texas native had a quiet Stage 1, finishing it 31st. He started to show faster pace in Stage 2, advancing up to 23rd by the next green-and-white checkered flag. The #13 team decided not to pit at the fifth caution, employing the opposite strategy to the #66 team, and they were richly rewarded when the next yellow flag came out around lap 110. The MBM crew bolted on fresh tires and Starr charged forward over the ensuing run. By lap 120, he was already up to 19th. He reached P17 by lap 125, P15 by lap 133, and P13 by lap 142. He ran in 12th-13th for the remainder of the green flag stretch, leading up to the crucial moment with just three laps to go.

Running on the lead lap in P12, entering Turn 3, the right front tire on Starr's car delaminated. The unwinding tire sent Starr up the track, into the outside wall, just as race leader #9 Noah Gragson was approaching from behind. Gragson had nowhere to go and suffered race-ending damage in the impact as he hit the rear of Starr's car. It was a terrible break for both teams. Starr was able to keep the car on the lead lap, pit for a replacement tire, and finish the race on the lead lap, but the damage from the incident caused him to fall back to 22nd on the road at the checkered and 21st in the final rundown. P21 is a personal-best for Starr in his eight Xfinity starts at this track, improving from a 22nd in 2010. It also elevated the #13 team from 40th in owner points up to 37th leaving Homestead.

After relinquishing his role behind the wheel at the Daytona Road Course, Chad Finchum returned to MBM at Miami, this time driving the #61 Ultra Commercial Interiors, Inc. Toyota Supra. Starting 37th, the Knoxville, Tennessee native advanced up to P31 by the end of lap 2 and ran in that vicinity for a large portion of the first two stages. Finchum was fighting a tight handling racecar, and the crew made adjustments throughout the night to improve that condition. The #61 team followed the same strategy that the #13 group did, taking tires on the lap 110 caution. By lap 120, Finchum was up to 22nd, and he soon settled inside the Top 20 for the large majority of the 50-lap green flag stretch. Just before the late yellow, the tire grip fell off a cliff on the #61 car, and Finchum dropped back outside the Top 20. At the seventh caution, the 26-year-old took the wavearound, restoring him to the lead lap for the finish. Finchum finished 24th on the road, which turned into 23rd in the final classification, adding his second Top 25 at this track.

►02/28/2021 - Cup Daytona Road Course Results

With the disappointment of missing the Daytona 500 firmly behind them, MBM Motorsports started their first full-distance Cup points race of 2021 in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 253 on the infield Daytona Road Course. This race was the first of 28 events for the NASCAR Cup Series this season that is scheduled to be run without any on-track practice or qualifying prior to the race start. The NASCAR Qualifying Performance Metric is used for these events to determine the starting lineup, and after not qualifying for the season opener, driver Timmy Hill had to come from 40th and last on the grid.

The #66 CrashClaimsR.US Toyota Camry majorly struggled for pace early in the event, especially in the lower speed, infield section of the racetrack. The MBM team made a plan to change the engine electronic control unit mapping during one of the yellow flag periods to improve this, and they did so under the fourth caution of the race, which fell prior to the end of Stage 2. Thanks to efficient work by the MBM crew, an intelligent decision to use the Xfinity garage area for its closer accessibility, and the long time of a yellow flag lap at the Daytona Road Course, the team got Hill back out from the garage area without even losing a lap.

The Port Tobacco, Maryland native did drop a lap to the leaders in the long green flag run to begin Stage 3, but he took advantage of an opportune caution flag and free pass award to return to the lead lap, a position he did not relinquish for the remainder of the race. Hill advanced up to 29th position by the checkered flag, matching his Daytona Road Course finish from 2020. He also secured the sixth lead lap Cup finish in MBM team history, three of which have come on road courses.

►02/28/2021 - Xfinity Daytona Road Course Results

All three MBM Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series teams experienced misfortune in the Super Start Batteries 188 on the infield Daytona Road Course.

Stephen Leicht made his 2021 race debut aboard the #61 Jani-King Toyota Supra and picked up a lead lap finish from 34th on the starting grid, but the resultant position is not reflective of his standing late in the race. The Asheville, North Carolina native took what turned out to be the penultimate restart in 7th place, but as the field worked through Turn 2 on the first Green-White-Checkered attempt, several cars got off track. In the chain reaction sequence, Leicht got spun by #20 Harrison Burton, dropping the #61 to nearly the tail of the lead lap. In the second and final Overtime, Leicht again got spun, this time down in Turn 5. The 34-year-old still finished the race in P29, picking up the 24th lead lap finish by an MBM car on a road course in team history.

Timmy Hill showed pace that was competitive with the upper mid-field throughout Stage 1. After starting 17th, the Port Tobacco, Maryland native advanced into the Top 15 and ran there for five laps of the Daytona Road Course, a circuit 3.61 miles in length. Trouble struck early in Stage 2 for the #66 Cable Enterprises / CrashClaimsR.US Toyota Supra, as the car broke a rear axle, necessitating a change. The MBM crew completed the change in their pit box, preventing a trip to the garage, but the repairs did cost the #66 about ten laps to the leaders. Hill returned to the track and completed the race, ending up 34th in the finishing order.

Houston, Texas native David Starr joined the MBM Xfinity program for the first time at the Daytona Road Course, and the 53-year-old NASCAR veteran has intentions of running the entire rest of the 2021 Xfinity Series schedule for the team. Starr is a four-time race winner in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and has amassed more than 530 NASCAR national touring series starts to date, including the final three Cup races of 2017 driving for MBM. The bright orange #13 Whataburger Toyota Supra rolled off the starting grid from 40th, but Starr struggled with transmission problems as early as Stage 1. He made 20 laps before retiring the car, collecting a 38th place finish.

►02/28/2021 - Xfinity Daytona Oval Results

The NASCAR Xfinity Series began its 2021 campaign at the Daytona International Speedway, with 45 cars attempting to qualify for the Beef. It's What's For Dinner. 300. Saturday morning qualifying ended up being canceled due to heavy rain, which has season-long ramifications for several teams with qualifying not scheduled to take place again until Circuit of the Americas in May. The rain was a blessing for MBM Motorsports, however, as it locked all three cars into the starting lineup of the now 40-car field. Despite the morning monsoon, the weather cooperated through the remainder of the day, allowing the Xfinity race to start on schedule.

All three MBM teams played a relatively conservative strategy through the first two stages, primarily running just behind the lead draft. The team strategy worked well through early Stage 3, as all three cars dodged the multi-car incidents through the first hundred laps. Disaster stuck on lap 105, however, as all three MBM vehicles had some involvement in the largest crash of the night.

Timmy Hill started the #66 VSI Racing / Ripper Magoos / DraftKings Ford Mustang from 37th in his 215th Xfinity race. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native had the highlight of his night under caution, as he led the field at both lap 63 and laps 79-81 for a total of four laps, equaling a single race career-high he achieved two other times at Daytona (2012 and 2020). Hill was just outside the Top 15 when the "Big One" broke out at lap 105. He was able to drive the #66 car back to pit road and lost just one lap while the MBM crew made sheet metal repairs. Hill wound up as the only car one lap back of the leaders at the finish, leaving him P20 in the final results with his 33rd career Xfinity Top 20.

Robby Lyons started 23rd in the #61 Carr and Sons Masonry Toyota Supra, marking his sixth career Xfinity race. The Seminole, Florida native ran as high as 16th in the race and dodged the main incident itself on lap 105, but he punctured a tire on the next circuit after running over debris from the incident. Lyons, who was not advised that the apron was impassable due to the safety crews responding to the lap 105 wreck, made light contact with a safety truck in Turn 4. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. NASCAR parked the #61 for the remainder of the race though, leaving Lyons 25th with 105 circuits complete. The result is his fifth Top 25 in the series.

Chad Finchum reached a milestone when he took the green flag in the #13 Ted Russell Ford Lincoln of Knoxville Ford Mustang: his 100th NASCAR Xfinity Series start. From 26th on the grid, Finchum ran up inside the Top 15 under green during Stage 3, but he had the hardest impact of the three MBM cars in the lap 105 crash. His car made contact with the outside retaining wall, breaking the right front suspension, before coming to rest against the inside wall in Turn 4. The Knoxville, Tennessee native ended up 30th with 104 laps completed.

►02/28/2021 - Cup Daytona Oval Results

Despite valiant efforts in both of the Bluegreen Vacations Duel races at Daytona International Speedway on Thursday night, neither of the two MBM Motorsports cars qualified into 2021 edition of the Daytona 500.

Timmy Hill, driver of the #66 VSI Racing Ford Mustang, was seventh fastest of the eight Open cars in single vehicle qualifying Wednesday night and 39th quickest overall. This placed him P20 on the grid for Duel Race #1, competing against #33 Austin Cindric, #37 Ryan Preece, and #96 Ty Dillon for a single transfer spot into the Daytona 500. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native ran inside the Top 15 for 30 laps, or half the race distance, and got as high as 4th place during the green flag pit stop cycle, as well as running in the lead draft for the entirety of the opening stint. Hill pitted primarily with the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyotas but had trouble getting back up to speed and lost the draft. With no caution flags in the race, there were no opportunities to recover. The #66 team required another pit stop on the penultimate lap for fuel, extinguishing any remaining chance to make the Great American Race. Hill wound up 19th in Duel 1, completing 57 of 60 laps.

Garrett Smithley, pilot of the #13 Trophy Tractor Ford Mustang, was sixth quickest of the eight Open cars Wednesday night and 37th overall. He started Duel Race #2 from 16th place, facing #16 Kaz Grala, #36 David Ragan, and #62 Noah Gragson for the lone available transfer spot. Smithley set six fastest laps, spent more than half the scheduled race distance inside the Top 15, and ran as high as 8th place, engaged in a thrilling battle for the transfer spot. The 28-year-old got collected in a lap 36 multi-car incident on the backstretch, but after a tire change and minor damage repair, the MBM crew got the #13 back into the battle, still on the lead lap. Disaster struck with just four laps remaining, as Smithley darted to the inside of #62 Gragson in the battle for the transfer spot just moments before #2 Brad Keselowski started moving up the track. The #2 and #13 collided, turning the #2 into the #62 and triggering a multi-car crash. Smithley was able to drive the Trophy Tractor machine back to pit road, but the team lost two laps on pit road making the needed sheet metal repairs. Smithley finished the race on track in P16 with 61 of 63 laps complete, but he fell short of the position needed to transfer into the 500 field.

►02/06/2021 - MBM Daytona Preview

Speedweeks 2021, the annual kickoff for all three national touring series of NASCAR, begins in just a few days. MBM Motorsports will head to Daytona Beach attempting to qualify two "Open" cars into the 63rd running of the Daytona 500, in addition to fielding three Xfinity Series teams in the Beef. It's What's For Dinner. 300.

Timmy Hill, who just completed his first full-season Cup campaign in the #66, successfully raced his way into the "Great American Race" in 2020 and will aim to repeat that feat in 2021. The Port Tobacco, Maryland native is scheduled to pilot the #66 VSI Racing Ford Mustang that will debut a new red-and-silver color scheme. The 27-year-old is seeking his 129th premier series start and his second berth in the Daytona 500 starting field. Hill, who has declared for NASCAR Xfinity Series championship points this season, will also run an identically wrapped #66 VSI Racing Ford Mustang in the Xfinity event at Daytona. He scored a career-best 3rd place finish in the Xfinity season opener one year ago and is seeking to duplicate that success this Speedweeks. If he qualifies for the race, Hill will make his 215th series start as he begins the 11th year of his NASCAR career.

The second MBM Cup driver will be Garrett Smithley, pilot of the #13 Trophy Tractor Ford Mustang. Smithley, now a veteran of 43 premier series races and 137 Xfinity races, has raced once before with MBM: in the TheHouse.com 300 at Chicagoland Speedway in 2017. At that time, Smithley drove for JD Motorsports, but the addition of two new drivers to the JD stables for that event left Smithley searching for alternate rides. Similarly in 2021, Smithley will primarily be a Rick Ware Racing competitor this year, but with all of the RWR rides already filled for Daytona, MBM will provide a car for the Ligonier, Pennsylvania native to make his first attempt to qualify for the Daytona 500. Smithley commented, "It's going to be a tall order to race our way in, but I’ve had a lot of success on superspeedways in the past, so I'm cautiously optimistic that we can get it done."

Both MBM Cup entries remain Open cars, meaning they do not possess one of the 36 Cup charters that lock each of those respective entries into the races. As of this writing, 44 drivers and teams have confirmed their participation in the event, which would leave eight Open cars to battle for four available positions on the starting grid. To qualify for the Daytona 500, an Open car must be the highest placed non-chartered team at the end of its Duel race, or one of the two fastest Open cars in single car time trials not qualified by its Duel finish. NASCAR will sanction one 50-minute pre-Duel practice session on Wednesday afternoon at 12:05 pm ET. Single car, single lap qualifying will take place at 7:30 pm ET Wednesday evening. The Duels will commence Thursday night at 7:00 pm ET. FOX Sports 1 has the television coverage for those sessions.

Back in the Xfinity garage, MBM Motorsports welcomes Robby Lyons to the team for the first time. The 32-year-old from Seminole, Florida has started five Xfinity (two Top 20s) and 17 Truck (three Top 15s) races in his career to date, including six restrictor plate races in total across the two series. Lyons will attempt to qualify the #61 Carr and Sons Masonry Toyota Supra in the season opener, and if all goes well, he and MBM are hoping to add more races to their schedules together. Patrick Magee will serve as the crew chief on this entry.

A familiar face to MBM fans will return to the seat of the #13 car at Daytona, but he brings a new sponsor along this Speedweeks. Chad Finchum, a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, will have Ted Russell Ford Lincoln of Knoxville aboard the #13 Ford Mustang. If he qualifies into the field, Finchum will start his 100th series race. The 26-year-old has scored 12 Top 20s in Xfinity to date, including two at Daytona, and his career-best finish came last year on the other major drafting track at Talladega.

The Xfinity Series entry list is expected to be revealed early next week, featuring 45 cars or more. For Xfinity events with qualifying in 2021, the maximum field capacity has been set to 36 cars. For races without time trials, the capacity increases to 40 starters. For the start of the season at Daytona, NASCAR has scheduled one 50-minute practice session for Friday afternoon at 4:35 pm ET. Single vehicle, single lap qualifying will take place in advance of the race on Saturday morning. With a plethora of cars scheduled to be sent home, nearly two-thirds of the garage area will be feeling some pressure entering qualifying. 31 cars will lock into the field based on their qualifying speed, and five provisionals will be awarded to complete the balance of the field.
